Hi,

I have just a short question, and thank you in advance for answering.

I just moved in to London from France and would like to point my satellite dish to "Atlantic Bird" at 5.0°W. However, my equipment is digital. Is there a way to use this"old" brand of Amstrad Digital Receiver to get the analogue signal from the satellite? In other words, is it possible to get analogue signal on a digital receiver?

Thanks for your tip.

Jacques

You will need an analogue receiver, but they can be bought really cheaply, I have fitted several used analogue receivers for French ex-patriates.

The sky minidish may be too small for the job, but again, an 80cm dish can also be bought cheaply.

You will need a TV capable of displaying SECAM standard pictures though, otherwise the picture will be black and white.

Hello Little One

Just one more small point to remember.

If you are planning to do any video recording, you will also need a SECAM compatible VCR otherwise you will only get Black and White on playback - this can be very confusing when watching Le Tour.

Good luck

Thanks for your inputs...

Any other thoughts? My mother has a receiver "Heliocom LC56" which works fine for either anlogue (Atlantic Bird 3) and digital (Free Astra Channels, such as CNN...)

I don't know...

THANKS TO ALL..

You can buy a dual standard receiver (analogue and Digital), Technomate make one, but you can probably buy one cheaper in France than here, places like Leroy Merlin normally have cheap deals for dish and receiver packs.

It has to be designed for the purpose, you cannot receive analogue channels on a purely digital receiver.
