Hi everyone,

I just found another 1m20 Channel Master. This one is motorized. Weather permitting this weekend, I'm starting to restore this one and my first Channel Master which is now 30 years old. The 2 ground stands are currently under construction by a friend.

I also received this Nokia SAT1202 CS with a positionner ACU8152.

Between two showers I started to clean the satellite dishes.
The 30-year-old is on the right.
Her back has been coated with boat resin to limit the Channel Master's fiberglass problems.

A little less analogue, and a lot more crap.

Yes, they are specific to the actuator design since they are of close tolerance to the rose joints at either end.

If you don't have the correct ones you have to find the appropriate spacer materials to pack out, or you end up with mis-tracking on a per satellite basis.

I just received a photo of the two antenna feet. I hope to have them this weekend and start painting and concrete.

one is 2m and the other 2m50.
Tubes are 3mm thick, reinforcements and bases are 10mm.
:)

Nice project, how is that resin treatment to prevent age on channel master?

Mine is also suffering from that problem, i can see and touch small fibers around the dish on top part and also on the back top half. Front dish is better.
I hope to prevent that with poliurethane paint.

For my oldest one (30 years old), i used at the back a coat of marin resine. This is good but increase the weight of the dish.
this solution fixes the fibers that you currently find at the back.
on the front after a good degreasing i'm using paint but without metal inside.

feedback on the project,
I followed your advice and went from 4 to 8 and from M10 to M12 for the bindings.

I have grounds for socket F.

Do you think I should put them on the king post straight or in a box?

It is better to have them in the box, but not sealed, with good ventilation.

A few years ago I painted my pole and polar mount in black Hammerite paint, it's now almost impossible to finely adjust azimuth as the painted surfaces stick together, so I have to rotate the pole. I'm not saying it will be a problem for you but it's something to be aware of :)
