Anyone else noticed drop on 7.0w ?

Dreambox 800,
Dreambox 500,
IPBOX 250,

Guys since Wednesday it looks like 7.0w has dropped in power.

Normally on a clear day at 20.00 11996H would be hitting about 64% on db, now its only on 61%.
Its the same on all transponders.

Even now db is on 60% where it should be about 62/63%.

Nothing wrong with setup, went out yesterday and swapped c120 to another invacom i have tried another feedhorn too, i also tried dish etc etc .

I will see what happens over next 48hours.

Okay here in Cyprus,but for two days we have had a dust cloud hanging over us.Might be all over the middle east.
Saying that,though, our bbc/itv reception is at its best .

I can only get the verticals, I have not noticed any change at all, on the ones I can receive. They do seem to be stronger at night than during the day though.
 
Yes, It has seemed to of dropped a few units. Keano you mentioned you are getting 64% on your D/B on the 11996h transponder what receiver are you using as at the same time of day at 8pm i am getting level 43% and quality of 45% on a technomate using the advance search option.

I only loose picture if the quality goes below 38%. I am not to sure what you mean mate about 64% d/b? can you send a screen print ?
 
think he means 64% signal level on the dreambox receiver
 
Yep on the db, cut off point for a stable picture is 60%, you can get away with 59% with the odd breakup.

I'm still getting showsports here, just because its one of the strongest and most stable transponders.

Currently on 62%.

Can forget 11804H this is so weak its untrue, I don't even get a lock ( 56% ).

It was poss to see it between 22.00 and 06.00 but not since last week.

I did have a mess with some norsat lnbs last week but did not even get a signal, so i'm doing something wrong with them.
I'll start a fresh thread on that and post some pictures.
 
The upper band norsats you got will help you only above 12.2 ghz.
The norsats give you one polarity at a time. So 2 norsats 4000A should be used. This is for the Showtime and ADD transponders.
Unfortunately there are also verticals in those.
You need to set the local oscillator right in the receiver as well.
Ideally you need an lnb/feedhorn assembly that accomodates two norsat lnb's, through a two flanged wave guide (2x) WR75 for 11.7 to 12.2 ghz with a vswr of 1.3/1.
If I remember well, your reception of 12399H is marvelous. You may be able to improve on that with your norsats. But I do not see any benefit in that, except experimentation.
I just received two norsat 7707A lnb's and a 611-6060-10 feedhorn from america. I know that without the dual wave guide flange I should receive only one polarity at a time.
Does anybody know where to find a dual wave guide (2x) WR75 without having to buy a whole dual polarity assembly?
 
m8 i'm going to start a new thread on this, I have a double waveguide but it did not help me at all, so I am doing something wrong.
 
You ought to feed the 2 outputs to a 4x1 switch and from there to your uncommitted switch. You should specify in the DB the polarity and the band for each input. The voltage from the receiver will act as an indicator only, but whatever the voltage generated by the Dreambox whether 14 or 18 volts will be enough to power the LNB's. May be your LNB should be rotated 90° to be put in the correct polarity.
If this does not work than a new thread will be probably invite the better advice of tenors on this forum.

Keano mentioned a few days ago that he was getting worse than normal signal from Nilesat.

T oday the wather is cold no clouds in the midlands and i have the first picture break up for more than a month. I have been setting my video recorder to record 11996h transponder whilst i am work and then put info into a spreadsheet, Therefore you can see what is happening from day to day.

I have noticed of late the quality is higher than normal in the morning and seems to drop between 3pm and 5pm. example for today the quality at 3pm was 49% on 11996h then by 3.15pm it was down to 41%.
More worrying today at 6pm it is down to 37% with picture break up. has anybody else noticed the drop in signal, Maybe it is the weather problems or worse still Nilesat reducing their signal. Any thoughts guy's.

The Solstice is coming up soon (maybe a few weeks yet) but is this anything to do with it????

So Strage to read these posts. The signal actually has increased here in Tbilisi Georgia. I use 60 cm dish for the reception of ME beam. On some frequencies I have 99% signal stregth on my openbox. 20% is needed to lock the prequency.

Unhappily, I cannot receive the horizontals (although I got a sniff of them for a couple of days last year), so an analysis of one vertical channel is all I can offer at present. Perhaps someone can compare the signal variations with those on some horizontal channels.

Checking 12.015V last night and today, I checked some timeslots using the graph facilility in TSReader. The refresh rate is approximately every 10 minutes. Times are in GMT.

The one for 8AM to 5PM clearly shows the drop in signal, minimum level occuring at around 5PM.

The apparent short-term variations in signals may be caused by local weather conditions.

My red line is just a rough idea of the general direction the signal takes, not an accurate picture of average levels.

Generally, the weather has been overcast continuously throughout the period of the readings.

Two more graphs will complete the 24 hour cycle.

Yes looks like things are going down hill again.

End of last week, things were on the up and it was as strong as ever.

Last couple of days its gone right down yet we have had fine clear skies.

Its deffo stronger in the morning and its like that until about 15.00 when it goes down and does not recover until about 21.00.

It would be nice to know why, it could be something sinster like reduce power because they know many brits in the south are picking up showtime with smallish size dishes.

I still have to try these norsats yet but not had time.

showsports on here OK but its right on the limit instean of the normal extra 5% you need for a picture.
