Okay can't get my head round this, the pictures and instructions are for elevation, but the scale on the motor is latitude.

My position is from dishfinder

Latitude: 55.7746°
Longitude: -4.0758°

Dish Setup Data-

Elevation: 21.0°
Azimuth (true): 145.0°
Azimuth (magn.): 148.7°
LNB Skew [?]: -18.8°

So according to the instructions i should set the Elevation to the latitude that i am at, so rounded up to 55.8*, now this means that my dish mount is up inside the motor flange.

Also it says for the declination angle to read your position of the scale attached and 35*- your declination angle, so for my latitude it would read 35-7.8=27.2.

So if this is right then i should set the motor up at 55.8* and the dish mount will be 27.2*, i have attached 2 pics of the mount then i can alter the bracket and get it fitted tomorrow

Robert

Despite your head scratching, you've got the right answers!

Set your Latitude against the Latitude scale on the Motor (Ignore the other scale on the Motor, if there is one - graduated in "Elevation". Doesn't matter. Forget it)

Set dish bracket to somewhere in the mid twenties (You'll need to adjust it anyway to find the Arc )

Latitude looks correct, best to try and set up on 5W, near as damn it your due South, the dish face will be close to vertical, final alignment should be pretty straightforward.

I have done a few of these now and the arrow indicator looks very deceiving i have redone your photo to show you that it is actually nearer the 54° mark as like i say the arrow bends round slighty on the gauge. even if you left it where it is compensate with the dish

Thanks for all your helpfull replies eventually got my head round it after reading them.

Any ideas on choping either the mounting flange at the corner then welding it back on or altering the dish mounting bracket to get the dish bracket to not foul the motor flange\bracket when turning

No chance you could drill 2 new mounting holes about an inch down from the originals.

Was trying to interpret the photo, yes, as RobTi comments, re drill the bracket and move the U bolt.

I had a similar situation with one of these motors and my old 85cm dish. My solution for the bracket wasn't quite as elegant as moving things and redrilling brackets. It involved a pair of mole grips and some brute force on the two lower corners of the motor bracket that protrude lower than the motor casing reshaping them into a nice pair of wings. :D
