Hi Everyone, I live in Alagadi, North Cyprus. A local Television retailer recently supplied/fitted a 4.2M dish. We brought our Sky plus box from the uk (not sure of the make of the box - its the one sky supplies) and are paying our monthly subscription to sky. After the installation, all was well until early evening, when BBC & ITV wouldn't work ("no satelite signal is being received" was shown on the screen). Channel 4 wouldn't work either. The retailer came out a few days later and jiggled with the dish and it reduced the time BBC and ITV were off to uk time 7.30pm to 8.45pm and told me that was as good as it gets over here. When i bought the dish, i wanted a quad LNB as my neighbour will want to tap into it, but they didn't have one available. So last week they fitted an Invacom quad LNB and connected the second cable for the sky plus to work, but since then the time BBC/ITV are off has increased to uk time 5pm to 8.15 pm. The retailer, reccons its the box not the dish and we'll have to live with it. To add insult to injury we were at a local pub last night and got nattering to a couple who live near us and also have a 4.2M dish and they get BBC/ITV 24/7. Would buying a HD box help ? - i have heard these boxes have better quality tuners ? While i remember - i noticed their engineer had drilled a hole in the centre of the dish (about 1/4" in dia) so he could "look at the LNB". Would this be a cause of the problem ? 'er in doors isn't happy as the main reason for having the large dish, was so she could watch Eastenders and Coronation St - As it is now, we cannot watch either !! Any help/advice greatly appreciated.
