Are Irish and Uk boxes the same?

Hi,

I currently have an Irish subscription but want to buy a HD box online as I live abroad. Will an Irish card work in an Uk HD box?

I plan to buy a Uk HD box, call sky ROI and get upgraded to HD without a tepephone connection. Is it that simple?

I obviously have to upgrade my feed from the dish.

All boxes are the same weather you get it from The UK or Ireland as the Firmware on these boxes are SKY's own, so YES you can buy a SKY HD box from anywhere and insert your Irish Sub Sky Card. Only non premium channels will work and you need to call sky (Ireland) to upgrade the Sky+ function (no extra cost). Just make sure that your phone number doesn't show up when calling from abroad unless you use your Irish mobile number...

I did the same: Getting a PACE box a few years ago from The UK. Got an Irish subscription, called from France to activate the card through my Irish mobile and that was it.
