Arris 4K iPlayer issue

Just a quick query, which is bloody frustrating: I’m actually quietly impressed with my new Arris 4K box, but my problem is that the remote has a dedicated BBC iPlayer button. This launches the app correctly - but trying to watch any progs with ‘age-related’ content (in my case, Luther) throws up a screen requiring a PIN number or password to continue. I can access iPlayer via other devices (iPhones, iPads, Amazon Fire TV box) without any of this difficulty and I’ve never set a parental password.

The usual 0000 default is a no-go - and clicking on the ‘I’m stupid enough to have forgotten my PIN’ screen asks me for my mother’s maiden name - which again doesn’t play ball. It’s as if there is a PIN hard-coded into the Arris O/S. Either that, or I’ve been cursed by the sat fairy..

Does anyone know a work round for this? I’ve emailed Freesat - but silence was the stern reply.

Have you tried 0000? Thats a common default on satellite boxes.

Have you selected a child account when you logged into iPlayer on the Freesat receiver? Try logging out and in again using the main profile.

Sadly, this doesn’t make any difference

"What if I forget my PIN or secret answer?

You'll need to remove the parental guidance lock and then set it up again from scratch. To remove the lock if you've forgotten your PIN or secret answer:

Click on Settings > Settings & Help
Highlight - but don't select - the Parental Guidance button
On your remote, press right, right, right, right, left, left, left, left (four each way)
Select the option to Clear Parental Guidance Password
Restart the BBC iPlayer app"

Incidentally, I’ve now received a reply to my query from Freesat - which basically said ‘sort it out with the BBC’ so I’ve given their support team the information I received here, in the hope that they’ll pass on the solution to others suffering the same issue. Once again, Taeverso.
