Astra 28.2 E Reception in Southern Spain

Hi people,

I would really recommend those people who are having problems with their weak signal to go for an Inverto black ultra, no matter where they are. It`s a relatively inexpensive opcion , especially if it works. Of course it wouldn`t be good for business if satellite professionals went round saying , hey, don`t buy a dish a new 1.5 or 1.8 m dish ,which runs into the hundreds of euros; instead go for the Inverto !

I can`t see this happening in this , as Huevos put it, "dog it dog world."

It`s a shame those folks don`t know about forums like this one, like myself !!!!

Over here most dishes are Prime focus so we can't use the Inverto Black Ultra. Its the Invacom C120 Quad for us .
 
Glad to see you have solved the problem. Just for the record, in answer to your previous questions, which didn't get answered:
The Invacom Optical LNB is poor for fringe reception. My partner in our company, who is an installer in Madrid, tried one out on a 1.2 and 1.8. Performance was so poor, worse than any LNBF we had tried, that he sent it back.
If you had been using an Invacom quad for four years, it will have been approaching the end of its life anyway. They really suffer in extreme heat in Spain, despite being guaranteed for five years. They gradually drift down in performance after about a couple of years.
The Inverto Black Ultra LNBF matched and exceeded the performance of the Invacom C120 in a recent test in Madrid.
You probably have a 120 cm dish from Famaval. These are steel, with soft support arms and a circular ring of bolts in the middle. They are a pig to set up and vulnerable to damage. They are sold by Televés and are cheap, but give an adequate performance. The ChannelMaster 120 is better but more expensive.
The recommendation in the past was always that a matched feedhorn and C120 LNB is the best for any dish, but the Inverto has changed this. Whether the quality control is as good as Invacom's remains to be seen, but even Invacom have had at least one bad batch in the past year or so.

Hi Snap,

Yes, I am very pleased with the Inverto. I never thought such a flimsy looking lnb compared to the Invacom could deliver such excellent results. I did have the Invacom for around 4 years, but even when I first installed it ,the difference it made compared to the other makes I had tried was noticeable. However, compared to the Inverto ther is simply no contest. The Inverto once I got it aligned and skewed just right was superb !

my dish is just a simple generic 1.3 m H x 1.25 m W standard dish , with just the one arm to support the lnb. No tricks, nothing fancy. 10729 v and 10758 v are night lose about 9%, so my receiver tells me, so from nudging 50 % on quality at 3 pm , it steadily levels off to 40 %. No break ups.

If anybody is reading this , bear in mind that your installation has to be spot on. However, I have also found that a sensitve tuner has a large roll in all this.

I have a Reelbox Avantgarde with 2 pci tuners and 1 tv tuner.

I hope this lasts for afew more years as Astra 2D is ending and Astra 2E is just around the corner. We will all just have to wait and see !
