Hello
Any one knows the average estimated signal attenuation that will occur to Astra 2D signal strength in 2013 when SES Launches Astra 2E into business in the same orbit!

How far will it cut Fringe reception in far away areas like north africa and west asia

Thanks

It shouldn't be affected at all directly. 2D will be coming to the end of its projected life by then anyway so any reduction in power will be natural aging.

So there will not be a need for dish size upgrade?
the signal isnt affected too much or what?

2D won't be the issue - when it's replaced that's when you will see (or not, as the case may be!) the consequences of today's narrow-beam technology.

2E 2F & 2G will have at least 2 beams each - a UK beam and a wider beam. Any predictions as to coverage areas are complete guesswork. However I would expect the uk beam to be as least as restricted as the 1N UK beam, if not a bit more.

final question
can different beams carry different channel on same transponders
or each beam has its own TP'S

Where theres an overlap no.

Where theres no overlap yes - just like the Madagascar beam on W3C at 16E - thats running the same frequencies on two beams.

in my location 2E will be covering me at high signal level 35-45DB
while 2D or its replacement will be far away with very weak signal
if SES did this to the beams of 2D/2E

will this affect fringe reception?

We know Astra 2E will have a Middle East beam that will be carrying new capacity for Arabic channels which will be transmitting on some of the same frequencies as the UK channels. When this bird goes into service you will lose access to anything on the same frequencies as the UK beam permanently

Also remember there are new satellites coming in the next few years - and they will have Middle Eastern spotbeam coverage - NOT of the UK channels but almost certainly Arabic language services

The Middle East spots will totally destroy all reception of whatever UK channels are on the same UK spotbeam frequencies

*can someone tell me the difference between compact cassegrain anntena and primefocus anntena

Thanks

Ok then
why people suddenly start ignoring my final posts to this thread

I don't know where you got the quotes from AS so maybe they are completely out of context here. It was my understanding though that the ME spot beams from 28E were for Ka broadband, not Ku DTH. ME Ku DTH doesn't make sense to me because 26E is one of the main ME slots and it is not possible to combine 26E and 28E on an everyday domestic size satellite dish due to the LNBs being too close together.

Those quotes from me are from months ago on a different thread.

QWEREWQ - there is absolutely no point asking what reception is going to be like on a satellite that is still only half complete in the factory. Only SES know what the exact details are likely to be and THEY wont be saying anything until a few weeks before the new birds are launched.

We know some general details nothing more.

We can predict that the eastern end of the Mediterranean will have difficulties getting the UK beam, and if SES use none overlapping spots with frequency re-use then in Egypt you would only get the channels on the spot pointing at the middle east.

However much of this is conjecture - we just dont know atm, so please stop asking about it.

are you mean astra 2e not be pan europeane beam
it like astra an uk beam ?
