not sure but at least 2.4 mtr and invacom twin lnb ,anything smaller and it would be a waste of time as you will only get south beam sigs

some people say that with 4.2 m dish you are able to get only horizontal polarization signal ...
any experience with bigger dish for vertical polarization ?

A big dish solution is very hard and insure indeed.
You're really out of Astra 2D beam, so that a big dish could not be the right solution for your problem. You could really loss your money and time uselessly.

Maybe, it could be better a subscription to the new ***sat package on Intelasat 905 at 24.5W with a 6ft or 8ft dish. I've read bad things about trusting to this, just on a forum's thread too: but it could be a less desperate solution than a huger dish one.

Yep, I'd never sign a ***sat subscription for me. But, I can't give any advise about a dish big enough for the reception in Cyprus.
It could be a very bad idea to do...

Please DONT put the name of that particular quasi legal sat package on this forum - we have serious doubts about its legality and dont want to give them any publicity.

Jimis, the minimum would be 3m but I would recommend a 3.8m for guarantees. But only for the 2D horizontal frequencies,no verticals even on a 4.2m.Where abouts in Nicosia ? I have had good results in Deftera and Tseri.
