Normally they are quite correct at the BBC, but this is far from the truth.... the 1N UK "spot" is even stronger than the new 2E/2F Europe Beam here. Hardly a real spot beam. The new 2F beam is MUCH tighter.

Which makes it quite obvious that this is a political statement to keep the unaware calm.

its odd, though, that in an official bbc announcement they practically advertise improved reception outside the UK

we hope so
not tiger too much

I would be happy if the satellite wouldn't wobble as much as 2F. But i somehow doubt it.

It's interesting that this has been posted by the BBC as a general Reception Advice press release and not an Alix Pryde blog post, obviously as the backlash of comments won't be welcomed by her!

It looks like they've literally translated the SES coverage maps, probably by someone non-technical. Gone are the days of BBC Reception Advice being staffed by trained Engineering staff!

The "IPTV will solve all your ills brigade" are out in force
We've had to put up with them and their ramblings for the last 3 years here. So far with 2E anyone here with a 1m dish here has gained lots of channels.

Garazi Goia, head of commercial management: infrastructure, will become acting director of distribution, while Technology and Future Media take the opportunity to look at the roles they require to deliver the distribution strategy for both divisions.

So, any thought on if ITV C4s also move on Thursday also? Or on another day?
I cannot remember if they did from 2d to 1n....

maybe some ITV / ch4 TPs will already move tonight, last time the BBC was last to move, this time they seem to be among the first.

The BBC were the last to move from 2D over to 1N, this time not by the looks of things.

It's unusual to read the bbc commenting on overseas reception.
They have already done a reception report for France and Belgium:)

As M60 said, they simply described the official SES maps... but it is already surprising they posted them. Normally it would be enough to say " for UK viewers everything stays the same or gets even better"....

My money is on more Sky TP's tonight, possibly the 1N PE and/or the 1N spot ones which will provide interesting reception reports if so.

As M60 said, they simply described ( translated ) the official SES maps... but it is already surprising they posted them.

Red is what was stated in original.

They are just theoretical maps with theoretical reception, based on when 2E and 2F were constructed as theoretical identical twins with more or less the same uk spot and ( pan ) european beams but with different TP capabilities.

Cannot believe the two sats will have the same highs and nulls for fringe reception on the ( theoretical ) uk spot beams.

Might be wrong but time will tell, bring on the PSB channel transfers:D

Yes. Even big dishes which pull in 1N UK spot don't get 1N PE here.

With the exception of
