In case no one mentioned it, ephemeris and cob data for 2E are available on the ses website.
What, Astra 2E is centered at 28.35 East, what is that good for?

So am I correct in thinking if this is correct:-

Clarke belt approx 165,000 miles long, then this satellite is approx 68.75 miles further round the belt (slightly closer in real terms as the shortest distance between two points is a straight line, but still quite a long way away from the other Astra 2 satellites)?

huh. the question is if this is permanent or just temporary until 1N and 2A are gone. Surprising anyways.

I ahave got the feeling, that 2E is weaker here, although BBC1NW is as strong as 2F. Is it possible that some of the TP's moved to 2F on Thursday morning?

How about the data on 12.441V. To me it looks like either 2A South or 2E Europe again going by signal levels.

Cheers, so looks like it's on 2A south. Didn't know 12442H was active too with data. Is this on 2A too? If so, 2A is still pretty full, surely they must be planning to offload a few more existing 2A TP's to 2E?

it astra 2a

2E can't do band D which is one of the reasons 1N stayed until 2E was launched.

You mean 2F. Yep, she starts at Band C upwards.

Cheers Solly for the confirmation about 12441H, I still think we may see some more 'original' 2A allocated TP's move to 2E next week (ie UKTV, Discovery, C4, QVC etc).

28.2/5'E Zone 1 Mini Dish connected to DVB-S Tuner into TVHeadend/XBMC with a 60cm dish bought out for Astra 1 on Grand Prix weekends. With Android XBMC box in the kitchen too.

@kevjs

Your dish is badly misaligned!

Eurobird is quite flaky compared to the Astra craft, so the fact that your Eurobird performance exceeds Astra proves beyond doubt your own hypothesis.

You really should have as near 100% S/Q as your receiver's metering and AGC permit, as the Astra field strength over UK is no less than massive.

Since Eutelsat 28B has already left 28E and 28A is due to end service soon, now is the time to shove your dish a couple of tenths Westwards.
My particular receiver is at the end of a very long cable run (about 50m half of which is TV coax the other half Sky shotgun cable - and yeas I know how crappy that is, satellite cable won't fit through the gaps under the doors and I can't drill holes) - Eurobird, 1N, and 2F all show 97%+ in the lounge with 2E being 90%+ (taken on my Ross FTA box in both locations - my media centre tuner is showing the same levels though).

Alas the mini-dish is too high up the wall for me to reach (if it was within reach there would be an Astra 1 LNB bodged onto it instead of another dish being plonked in the garden on Sky only F1 weekends ) - was the same before and after the Sky installer removed (it three months ago) added a new bracket (to support the Octo LNB*) and replaced it though (if anything Eurobird was slightly stronger after he'd left - I bet the installer optimised for the weak channels to avoid repeat call outs).

Quality is shown 100% on all receivers though (except the transponder carrying Kerrang!) so I'm not that worried!

* The existing four cables being in the old lounge (now a bed room) and at the wrong side of the lounge - one of those is what my receiver is tapped off, and the other of those old feeds is what the FTA box is connected to - the Sky+HD box got a new run.

As an aside, in the garden With the Grand Prix dish I've noticed I can get both Astra 19.2, Astra 23.5 and Hotbird at around 85% strength in my room (another long cable run partially via TV Coax windows and gaps for central heating pipes) but the best I can get from 28.2'E is 60% - Dishpointer does show some trees right next to the eastern side of where 28.2'E should be though (any further east it would be pointing through the trees) - guessing the Sky Mini dish above the roof line is able to peep over the top of the trees, but at ground level I'm looking through the branches (I've noticed some of the neighbours on the other side of the road who will be pointing through the trees have Zone 2 dishes mounted on the chimneys :s )

Update cairo: so once all 2a tp's go to 2e Sky is pretty much over except if I can source a 4m dish (ref. Solly) here in Egypt. Plan B & C will be activated ....

100% OK.

With settings that I have on the antenna, I can discriminate the position 28'2°E and 28.5° E, making an overall correction of the length I have in the tuner, -0.20 and +0.34 to earn 3-10% signal from they get the Astra2E, and now I have readjusted position 0.20 between the satellites.

The funny thing is that with the ASTRA2D for Madrid (Spain) had the maximum signal around 17:00 GMT and now is when I have less signal, is right across the grid, see what happens when you move the satellite arrives Astra2G and reseat satellites.
With large antennas not noticed (180cm), I fish with 100cm and easily see the movement of the satellites in its grid in this position.
------------------
100% OK.

Out of curiosity, and I know it's been discussed previously, what is the split in terms of bandwidth transponders across the three new craft at 28E (ie Astra 2E has more 36MHz TP's than 2F and 2G). I know 2G has more narrow bandwidth TP's available than wide ones. Has anyone got a handy count for reference across all three satellites?

Thanks to the Mod who changed this from what it was. I tried 3 or 4 times without success.
