Is the FEC the same? 2/3 or 3/4

Anyone got any idea why 10847V and 10935V (the 8PSK transponders) should be so much lower for me than the rest. Up to 1.3dB lower. Originally I thought it could be stability of the LNB, but 8PSK transponders on 2F perform the same as QPSK ones using the same LNB. Any other thoughts what could be causing this?
Could it be just a coincidence they are 8PSK or a combination of 8PSK and being on transponders that just happen to be a little weaker in your area?

it seems to be a universal issue, as those 2 tp's are significantly lower here, in hungary as well. like in budapest, some tp's are only missing a bit from locking on a 4 meter dish, while these 2 are nowhere near: 10773h is the strongest with 35%, some others are in the 20's%, while 10847v is 15%.

FEC is irrelevant to SNR. SNR must be higher for less robust FECs but SNR doesn't change with FEC. Also as I said above this is not apparent on 2F which uses the same parameters for 8PSK transponders.

What is strange is the transponders are not low on the spectrum. This means there is more noise, not less carrier. Tothbros can you print a spectrum for your location.

cant do it, sorry. i dont have the equipment. i'm getting reports from other satellite enthusiasts around the country, i'm in touch with them. i'll ask around if anyone can provide a spectrum print.

Ok, so if this is "universal", that leaves uplink or satellite. The 2 transponders in question are uplinked by different bodies as far as I know because one is ITV and one is BBC. So is this down to following common guidelines, or is it something else. BTW, I'm not suggesting a fault.

Has anyone figured a way of using the Two Way front end to pick up the Astra 2 TV sigs.? I've been wondering whether one could tap into the wave guide connection and attach a broadcast band LNB thereto. [thus 'killing two birds with one stone ,so to speak!] I imagine the receiver in the LNB has a relatively Narrow Band with bandwidth compared to that of a ULNB. But the Dish itself is probably a more accurately shaped parabola than the normal designs and should perform well on Astra 2e.Comments please !

All BBC TP's are uplinked by ATOS, ITV's by Arqiva, sounds deliberate to me. Interesting though.

Is this ATOS the French IT company that is in charge of kicking people off the sick?

No that tp's compare measured on the spectrum analyzer, have similar levels Madrid, normally the difference is usually the SR against lowest asking more antenna if you compare the tp's 22000, 23000 to 27500, these last give you more level.
Normally many decos have a tuner for DVB-S and DVB-S2 for another by processing the signals with different level-value.

This can be the difference you see.

If it were differences in the tuner that would show on 2f as well, but it doesn't.Anyway 2/3 8psk has almost identical reception properties as 5/6 qpsk

But do not use the same tuner DVB-S/DVB-S2.
Showing different values.

Would love to hear of anyone with a large dish trying this and getting a result in the null we have here.

I was going to try this very thing in the next week or two on a customer's 3m p/f, but I've been beaten to it. See today's ADN.

You can do the equivalent today with a slingbox.

Yes you can but apparently the remote control part Is slow to respond and In an ideal world you would need a sling box connected to a freesat or freeview dvr to series record etc and then a good media player to connect to your tv abroad and again the remote control is not great as you would need to use another device like a wireless mouse or something ! Very messy !

If you could just have a normal dvr with a normal remote control under your normal tv then It would be much easier ! + you would have the benefit of streaming to tablets etc in other rooms as a bonus!

also much cheaper !

I think my dish must be slightly misaligned as the BBC signals come in stronger than 2F signals like 4HD 4Seven, I get 80% signal strenhth for BBC1/2HD and only 75% for CH4HD ; quality is similar 90-100 on my 2.2M (Albatera). As signals are good not currently tempted to make any changes.

As already stated, 11023H, 11068V & 11097V (2F) do not suffer from this effect. These transponders have identical parameters to 10847V & 10935V (2E). If the receiver were responsible it would show on all these transponders.

This graph shows the difference between QPSK & 8PSK transponders on both satellites. Notice the effect is far greater on 2E so is obviously nothing to do with the tuner.
