Thanks to the Mod who changed this from what it was. I tried 3 or 4 times without success.

'twas I: Those Coding tags can be a real bu**er if one isn't intimately familiar with the syntax!

You mean 2F. Yep, she starts at Band C upwards.

Cheers Solly for the confirmation about 12441H, I still think we may see some more 'original' 2A allocated TP's move to 2E next week (ie UKTV, Discovery, C4, QVC etc).

i will be tested tonight
today i record tested signal on 2c
same problem of beam now

If so, 2A is still pretty full, surely they must be planning to offload a few more existing 2A TP's to 2E?

At one point 2C was due to come back to 28.2E, although I don't know if this plan has been dropped due to all the delays. Mind you, most of the band that 2C can cover (band E) is now taken over by 2E, so it's not looking like they plan to use it.

Perhaps it'll still come back as a backup once 1N is in place at 19.2E.

highest possible distance to the Badr cluster so possible interference with the ME beam is reduced ?

If that were the case would it not make sense to put the sat broadcasting the ME beam further east as things stand the 2F beam and the 2E beam would cross ?

@solly: yeah, no way to get the ME beam here, but that was intented - frequency re-use.

@davidmadrid: the beams cross? That cannot happen anway. What I meant is reception in the Middle East. There, only the ME beam from 2E is receivable, the other beams are not visible because the antennas a directed to Europe/UK, Africa (2F). In the Middle east a viewer will see the strong signals from Badr and 2E ME beam, so to put them a bit farther apart so those would not interfere, they put 2E as fast east as they could. That's my suspicion.

Ive thought aboy that - the main problem is Im limited by the amount of pins available. Ive only got 3 types of coloured pin available

blob with dot (used for stable reception)
blob with no dot
push pin (used for no or unstable reception)

I dont want to use the blob with no dot - its too close to the other one.

And at the end of the day unstable reception is almost as bad as no reception.... (especially when peak time viewing disappears)

yeah, can see that's a problem. I know intermittent reception is almost as bad, but does mean stable reception is in sight with better aligned / slightly larger dish etc

Piet,

Yes you are right i had it the wrong way around the ME comes from 2E and not 2F. I have not had much time to experiment but if things stay this way in theory nudging the dish especially a larger one towards 23.5 should yield some SNR gain ? This offset probably also explains why many have felt 2E is weaker ( especifially if they are misaligned towards <28.2 ) .

ses need to upload gain more 3db ?

Annoying that I can't tune in BBC One HD Scotland on the slightly stronger 2F. Any chance the BBC will pay to get it added to the Sky EPG?

But way things are going, Sky might end up having to pay the BBC, or at least provide EPG access for free.

KoS reports 11024 on Astra 2E but that's on the 2F?

Would love to hear of anyone with a large dish trying this and getting a result in the null we have here.

You might be on to something there, perhaps once 28A leaves they might even push it out to 28.5E. This could be all part of the agreement with Eutelsat. There have been a few press releases out talking about 28.2/28.5E by SES and at the time I thought it was a bit strange and that maybe they where just referring to Eutelsat 28A.

bit intertesting 11005v data on 1n will be move 2e or 2f ?

And it'll be interesting to see what will happen to the data channels on 11464H, 11.479V, 11.509V too. These are strong in Finland.

11.008V is probably switched off - hence the copy on 12.129V. Always wondered on which satellite 11.464 and 11.479 are. Cant be 2F, cant be 2E, so has to be 1N. But then, they are weaker than 11.008... maybe 1N PE 2 ?
