@bin

Good Luck, I'd be surprised if you pick up any noise, since we can't get it with 105cm-120cm in Prague anymore.
Of course that may change but not looking good.
You were right Angoodwi about the 1m dish but I had it so it was worth a try - no bbc's but now I have marvelous quality and signal on itv's all be it only for a few days- damn it should have set it up earlier!!!!!!!!!!!!

Of course nothing here in Rome with a 1 mt FAIT dish and Inverto black ultra 0.2 db noise LNB.
As late as yesterday night we still had all BBC´s channels visible 24H even with light rain.
What can I say ? at home tonite the family mood was rather depressing.
I really don´t know whether all this matter concerning broadcasters rights or BBC fees might justify the move to the UK spot beam, considering that in any case the BBC channels are still watchable in South France ( Savoie) , North Spain ( Valencia area ) with only a 80 cm dish and apparently in Milan with a 100 cm dish !!

The cost of the Rights is predicated upon a number of factors - "overspill" being one of them: It's only recently that Satellite beam-shaping technology has become refined and there is an implicit expectation that providers like the BBC will keep up with the state-of-the art and continue to try to reduce overspill. But it is impossible to eliminate it.

Best way to look at it is, if not in the intended reception area, anything you do get is a bonus, not a right.

In our UK household, we have the converse issue of wanting Italian TV. Fortunately it's mostly easy - for now.

Report from Basilicata (Potenza) Italy, 40.38N 15.48E
The minimum values of the signal quality during the day (7.00 am - 11.00 pm) occur around 5.00 pm. (the maximum values around 3.00 pm) . The variations between the minimum and maximum values are limited: 0.5 dB in Astra2E e 0.2dB in Astra 2F. More precisely, today at 5.00 pm, the (minimum values) received by a 3.4m Prodelin prime focus dish (+ invacom quad) were
ASTRA2E
10743 H 6.4 dB 10772 H 6.6 dB 10787V 6.2 dB, 10802H 6.6 dB, 11816V 6.4dB, 10846V 6.4dB, 10861H 6.8dB, 10.875V 6.8dB, 10920H 6.0dB, 10934H 6.9dB, so all channels but HD of 10846V are over the threshold (5.9 for normal channels, and 6.5 for HD channels) of my receiver Dr.HD F15.
ASTRA2F
11066V 8.1dB, 11052H 8.9dB, 11023H 8.8dB,10993H 9.0 dB, 10963H 9.1dB, 11125V 8.5 dB, 11096V 8.3dB (of course, these channels are receivable, sometimes with torrentail rain 11023H goes which rarely happens in southern Italy).

As observed before, adding 0.5dB and 0.2dB at the minimum values gives the maximum values, for ASTRA2E and ASTRA2F respectively.

To pass from ASTRA2F to ASTRA2E I need to move the dish, a bit. Anyway, skew is an absolutely important issue. It might be that with a slight move on the skew, an improvement is possible, but this would mean to repeat the correction a couple of times every day, or the use of a motor to rotate the lnb a little bit around its axes.

various reports from hungary...
in the budapest region (central-hungary), even a 4m dish is not sufficient to lock 2euk tp's - 5m is required for most, but some extremely weak tp's, namely 10847v would need an even bigger dish.
eastern region: much better reception, even with a 2,5m dish some tp's are watchable, while with a 4m dish, reception is fairly good.

2e uk reception is much poorer than 2f uk.

as this is extreme fringe territory, the slightest modification of the satellite/power/beam results in significant change in reception.

as for 2e/2f pe beams: reception is worse than 2a, people with smaller dishes experienced 10-20% signal drop depending on the type/brand of the receiver. minimum dish required is 80cm.

I confirm, Peon is the best Slovakian DXer. He is from Michalovce. His report is unbelievable.
