@solly

Good morning and thanks for all the reports, but did you mean to post in the Western Europe section? I thought you were at the other end of the Med?:)

Okay, as the BBC channels are already on the new spotbeam I think it's time to safely check out the receiption:

I'm living at 49° 50.210', 8° 13.173' in a village called Undenheim.
Sadly my set-top boxes don't mention any receiption strengthes in dB only in percentages.
About the weather: according to nearby airfields (and my eye sight) the sky is overcast, so it's all cloudy and it was actually raining when I did the checks:

These numbers are from DVBViewer being recorded with a DVB-S2 video card - my set-top box (an Enigma 2 box) shows the same numbers just 10% higher - however it already considers a signal below 40% as critical while my DVB-S card starts that at 30%, everything above 30% is usually a stable signal.

Astra 1N: 10936 V STV HD: about 67%
Astra 2F 11024 H CBeebies HD (obviously demo band) - about 67% too (interestingly my setup always had about the same receiption strength on 1N and 2F)
Astra 2E: 10847 V BBC One HD: about 56%

So well, for my receiption: Astra 2E is without a doubt the weakest of all being 10% weaker than 1N and 2F - still: having this first report, I can say that I can still safely receive the BBC channels as it seems.

For the week-end rain and strong winds are expected so I'll continue checking the signal throughout the week-end.

At 6.45 CET couldn't find the HD channels and SD was at 6.8dB.
Since dropping my wife at the station, HD channels have come in at 7.3dB and the SD channels now at 7.5dB
pictures and sound solid both on my Sky box and Enigma receivers.

Ch4HD on 2F is pixilating heavily (6.5d:cool:, so 2E is stronger than 2F .......... at the moment!

Om 1m dish BBC still watchable, occasionally the sound breaks up, the receiver box suggests similar signals to Channel 5 i.e. 2F. Putting the meter on the cable I get lock on Channel 5 but no lock on BBC1. So suggestion of slightly weaker signal from 2E. Moving to the 1.2 m dish with Sat meter I get lock with both BBC and Channel 5. Channel 5 is showing 5% more quality and 0.7db more signal, again suggesting 2F is slightly better here in South of France.

Very strong reception here. It's about the same as the Astra 1N. In the midst of The Netherlands.

Since UK is "Western Europe", I don't see any particular difference to signal levels on BBC channels on my mostly obscured 1.2m dish.

Welshman - I've been holding off buying a new dish for my system in FFM (Bornheim). With my current 60cm I get all BBC but the 5 channels are intermittent. How is your 80 cm dish with rain fade? Would 1 meter or even 1.25 meter be preferable or overkill do you think?

Hi,

Latitude 44.993, Longitude 0.945, (about 120kms inland from Bordeaux, on similar latitude).

I do not have specialist equipment, but here are my changes:
Slight change here in signals, used to get between 90%-100% Quality & Strength previously, but still receive BBC1HD & BBC2HD.
Quality & Strength now varies between 85% - 95%, 3 tuners (Foxsat HDR & Foxsat HD), 80cm dish, quad LNB.

So many treads about position 28,2*E, so I am lost and do not know where to post. Made a full scan this morning and than compared results what I had 18th of January.
11.739V 27500 is new frequency for me. Got stronger signal on 24 out of 88 frequencies (plus 6 and more %). Rest is in margin of different weather conditions. Those are just my facts, do not conclude anything.

Since UK is "Western Europe", I don't see any particular difference to signal levels on BBC channels on my mostly obscured 1.2m dish.

The BBC channels have gone up an average of 2-3% on my DB7020 strength SNR meter from last night. (60cm circular ex analogue dish)
