Astra 2E: Western Europe Reports

Indeed hairybadger. I can get Saorsat in W Devon (I'm between Barnstaple and Exeter) but I believe I'm right on the edge (1 m dish) and I don't think it gets even to Exeter.
OK - I stand corrected. I thought that even the edge of Wales was the limit :)

Still, I keep it out of technical interest and because I can't think of a better deployment of the 1 m dish.
:) technical interest. Am picking up my 1m Gibi tomorrow. I wonder if my wife will understand the "technical interest" reasoning.

@Robert Mallett Do you mind if I ask what town are you in/near ? Do you still have BBC and ITV?
No Problem I'm in the Maures hills which are about 15Kms from the Bay of St.Tropez. Out of interest I had no BBC 1 London last night, skies were clearing, but I could get BBC 1 Scotland and other regions no problem. No BBC HD. Today it's sunny and clear and I have BBC 1 & 2 HD variants Ch.5 Ch.4 ITV London. I'll be interested to see what I get tonight - it's forecast to stay clear. I've some local people who have a 1.3M dish and they couldn't get BBC1 yesterday but can today - the only variable we know of is cloud/rain vs clear skies but perhaps there is more going on than we know. I see you have a 1M, are you still missing some channels?

It appears there is a dead spot over Catalonia and very southern France. Can anyone clarify?
No-one is completely sure yet but it looks like the null might just parallel the Pyrenees on the Spanish side.

Ah well, after 27 years she's realised that the battle has to be fought on other fronts. 7 dishes in Devon, 5 in France!
I get despairing looks because I have *2* :) (although admittedly one is a fully-populated T-90)

Sorry for going OT. Gone to private conversation.

Which is probably what I ought to get, but the problem is that we have trees all over the place and there isn't any one location where both 28 E and 5W are visible.
But the trees help to keep the wind off, and the numerous dishes lend an air of mystery to the observant passer-by....
Come on man - bit of imagination. Either get 2 T-90s or a chainsaw (or both) :) You could take a few feet off the tops of the trees so the dishes can see over them, and the passer-by would still get the air of mystery.

We lost ITV channels overnight but we still have Channel 4
90cm clear acrylic dish.
Location Vidauban, 83550, South of France.

I have no idea how to update the map, so if anybody can help....

Your report is all we need. :)

Ive just got home from work, so give me a chance to have a coffee & I'll update the map with all the latest reports.

ASat -Frankfurt Report all channels available with no pixellation and stable reception.
Worst is BBC1 hd with 68% SNR on the VU+ best is ITV in all its forms and Channel 4 in all its forms with 95% SNR. 18:55 Local Time.80 cm kathrein. Pse add to Map. Curiously my astra 2f BBC channels ie bbc1 Wales hd have risen up by 5% SNR since this Time yesterday and stand at 84% SNR Wonder if the move off 1n of all FTA has something to do with the betterment of SNR ie the strong Signals have gone off 1n and are Not Interfering with 2f anymore????

All 2E spot beam channels coming in well, in general SNR today is much better than that which transmission started with last week ; e.g.BBC ONE HD had been one of the weaker channels with an SNR of ca 38-40%, but I'm seeing it at 52% right now.

(I'm as West as you can get in Austria, right on the Swiss border).

Given that in many Parts of the uk its piddling down perhaps they have had to increase the Signal

Doubtful: The EIRP over the UK is massive.

Here in Munich.At 10-15 AM..........Signal is up on the last few days :).....100cm dish!!...BBC1 SD London 70Q.....Itv london 60Q....Ch4 SD 70Q........On the Gibby 150,,All 2F & 2E,,,at 100Q ( Humax Freesat )

Edit... ch4 SD just jumped to 80% on the 100cm dish

Update now the moves to 2E for ITV and C4 are complete.

All SD channels fine, 95%-100% Strength & Quality.
ITV HD (London) and Channel 4 HD, same readings and no pixelation, perfect reception.
BBC HD Channels, as stated yesterday, regular pixelation, but signal readings 90%-100%, so maybe a slight tweak needed!

Latitude 44.993, Longitude 0.945, (about 120kms inland from Bordeaux, on similar latitude).

Tweaked my dish. All channels now 100%-100%, no problems whatsoever.

Hi !
Lezignan-Corbières, France (approx. 43°12'N 2°46'E).
With a 90cm dish, lost BBC1 HD and BBC2 HD. Other channels are OK but with little margin for bad weather.

How is your reception (HD channels like BBC One/Two HD) between 8pm and 11pm? I am having trouble to get a signal during these hours.
