TonyWhalley - last 4 columns all in the same conditions - clear blue sky this morning. there are some "wierd" variations and this might be due to the way sampling is done i.e. spot figure rather than an average over a time period. Conventional LNBs max out at 1.2m dishes so really the practical comparison should be 1.0/1.2 and 1.5 with Feedhorn. I included the 1.5 with conventional to satisfy myself that Feedhorn is a requirement.
So looks like UK spot 1.50 > 1.25 (makes sense on weaker signal)
PE spot 1.25 = or slightly < 1.50 (again strong signal .. not much to improve)

So as I have just ordered a Gibby 1.50 .... hope I can improve on my Gibby 1.25 in my fringe area !!!

Where exactly are you? I'm about 15Kms from the bay of St.Tropez and have 110cm which is only just able to give me a pixelated picture and I'm wondering what I need to increase it to so I can guarantee a good pic in all but the worst conditions - which is what we've just had a week of on top of all the other rain. I'm going to see if I can get access to a 1.8m tomorrow and see what that gives (it's a disused ex Swedish owner who had it to get channels on Thor). Perhaps we can compare notes.

Also I'd like to put a pin on the Google map but can't work out how to do it. Any help anyone?

In Toulouse, France (31700) 90 cm dish, most channels are OK bur pixelate in the rain, however, (10847) BBC1/2/3 HD and (11023) BBC4/CBeebies HD are unwatchable. Considering buying a 1.25m Gibby....does that seem like a reasonable next step?

It's interesting. The postcode 32460 is about the same latitude but much further west, I've had some reports of 1.20m dishes with no BBC and my 110m is only giving me a very weak signal - unwatcheable really with nothing at night, it might be my LNB which is helping that last yard. I'm 82680

Hi,

Latitude 44.993, Longitude 0.945, (about 120kms inland from Bordeaux, on similar latitude).

I do not have specialist equipment, but here are my changes:
Slight change here in signals, used to get between 90%-100% Quality & Strength previously, but still receive BBC1HD & BBC2HD.
Quality & Strength now varies between 85% - 95%, 3 tuners (Foxsat HDR & Foxsat HD), 80cm dish, quad LNB.

Just an update.

No change in my hardware, but HD channels (BBC1, BBC2, BBC News etc) have some pixelation on all tuners, so likely that 80cm dish here is just on the edge. All SD channels fine.

Awaiting ITV HD and C4 HD changes, and will report again.

Hmmm - no pegs in the northern half of the country. Looking at the map my report seems to be the furthest north and I'm not much further up than Lyon.

I'd take the report of reception on a small (60cm) dish near Goudon with a pinch of salt. Most other reports from the SW are crying over no spot beam with dishes of 1m or even larger.

I'm waiting till tomights migration from 1N is complete, then I'll test using my small 60X50 cm oval dish. I'm sure it will be conclusively good reception but maybe it needs to go on the map...

Perhaps the French should think up a greater variety of names!
In the department where I live there are three or so rivers called "Foron". It means "river" in some ancient language or other :) (much like "Avon"...)

Thanks.

You're not wrong: I got quite confused researching "Things to do", Routes etc for our upcoming holiday to Languedoc as the charming Hamlet where our Gite is shares its name with rather too many other charming Hamlets!
