bigger dish that you can think .
pc card
My Location
Southern Europe,Crete
He is located few kilometers east of Heraklion (35,33N / 25,13E).
Thanks m8 that you mention where i am with my 5m :).

First of all i must tell the Admin:
I have logged in today with a different nick because i had a problem with my PC having crashed and lost passwords. I sent mail for new pass which has never come, so i registered again with a new nick. If you can fix it please sent me a pm.
Also i am limited in posting just 2 times a day so that i cannot answer to anybody setting me certain questions.
Thanks.

Now on dx world:
i really don't expect to catch the new 2f here even with 5m. I have to add that when 2D was active i had signal from 8pm to 8am .
On astra 1n lost everything: No any signal even with 6.2m dish which a friend of mine has. So the big dish since it was useless pointing at 28.2E it does a better job for 19.2E because of the very difficult to receive Astra 2C frequencies here. But when astra 2f was on the way i thought why not turn it again to 28.2E just to try and i dont really know what ses does and i have signal on this sat, We will see the rest of tp coming up.
The signal of 11023 it's not so strong for 5m because i dont have fixed it well. As soon as the weather will be better it's top on my priority list to do :)
On 24hour check i have done, the signal 4am GMT it's 6.4db and after that going up until it reaches its maximum at 7pm 7.9db.
Just for the DXrs in Europe, We live in Southern Europe and the signals here need a very big dish. Just have a look at the picture what i have written onto:

Analoguesat thanks for your efforts , i just looked at a globe to see where 28.2e is , in the Western part of DR congo , picking that slot for the UK market all those years ago really was forward thinking , the beam naturally slants along a line running north south UK... its clearly visible in your map.. drawing a line from London through Paris axpprox arrives at the DR congo. So easy to understand why its easy in Barcelona yet Lugo no .. I suspect It will be easier to get a signal in the likes of Ibiza before North portugal etc. Have the feeling i might squeek in from Madrid ,, time will tell ,, but I suspect somehow the engineering on the sat is too good ..I also think from something i read / watched ( BBC doc ) that its possible for them to alter the beam electronically whilst the sat is in orbit.

Yes, I saw that too - they can change the shape of the dish in 2F to suit the requirements of the UK broadcaster, so the UK spot beam, will be more of a spot, I'm afraid.

There is some extremely bad weather tracking north over the uk at the moment - heavy rain & strong winds. Its quite possible that there might be small fluctuations in uplink power. And hence downlink powers.

Small fluctuations would never be noticed here in the UK, but might be noticed in extreme fringe areas.

From the other hand, this is what they are expected to say. I remember years ago SKY retailer tried to convience me that UK beam covers only UK islands and nothing else. This was what they been told by SKY experts :)

Sorry very off topic, but AS going back to your poor output of BBC HD, tonight was Pointless Celebrities. Was that a statement or just a Freudian slip?!?

Both - hadnt realised it was a celebrity edition as

1) I wouldnt recognise most so called celebs if I was standing next to them in the pub, and I certainly didnt recognise any of the two bbit low grade celebs on tonight.

2) Id got the volume turned off and was listening to my rock mp3's on the headphones

:-rofl2

The BBC put out a press release before they switched to 1N from 2D to warn viewers there might be loss of signal at that time.
Why? SES move transponders on astra19.2 satellites on a regular basis and for mulitiple providers at the same time.
Nobody is informed, nobody cares and nobody notices.
I assume the providers get informed, but not the customers. Why scare customers when nothing changes for them?

I recall the BBC making any sort of announcement last February, and if they had I wouldn't have been checking my meter every morning. But they do announcements when channels move or change parameters so people that are not using a Sky or Freesat box know where to retune.
