Off topic again but what's with the spraying of the LNB? In thru the feed horn?
Maybe explained in another thread but I must have missed it.

Thanks

Just a quick squirt on the plastic cover. It puits a teflon coating on the cover & the water runs off more easily. Normally I wouldnt bother but Im trying to keep things all the same so we can identify if the 11023H power gets backed off at any point.

looks at reports this morning ses are still testing the beam, i have feeling there not happy with it so there doing slight modifications to try focus it more to the uk, i have feel some who might have been getting it might not now and those who might not have got it before might be getting it now, i think the transfer might not happen until 2nd week of December if this keeps up.

im interested in signal reports for 11023h where it was just had a strong enough signal to view if they still can, and most interested ion the Spain results

How about using one of those car windshield treatment fluids, such as rain-x etc?

That would work as well, but Ive got wd40 handy (well Tescos cheap copy anyway!)

Well no swap-over last night - I thought that was almost 100% certain for then - so why the delay? Is there someting wrong? If they don't do it tonight will we have to wait until next weekend?

I can't see it being delayed quite that long!

It's part of a chain of moves, so there must be some short-term target dates.

it depends if they have found a problem with the beam they might be tweaking it as best as possible which might not be quick to do

Andrew , Here on the coast in San Pedro Del Pinatar in Murcia the 1.9 receives strongly as does the 1.4 but nothing on the 1m , I have a feeling that this is going to change . I can't see that this signal strength is permanent , got a feeling its going to be wound down any time soon

They should have sufficient data from design, pre-launch testing, in orbit testing etc. to be able to deal with things quickly enough (Well, things that are actually possible, anyway!).

All too quiet on the southwestern front 11023 wise. We live in hope however, remembering that Astra 2D had weaker and stronger transponders with regard to reception here. Also I remember someone saying that Inverto Black Ultra LNBs were particularly sensitive on lower frequencies.

i think operational wise but the spot would be near impossiable to properly test unless they used the same off axis area to test it, italy wasnt recieving the other day but are now they are testing it and trying to refine it location before dropping the power im 95% sure of that

Well whatever the apparent delay, we're stuck with it.

A good opportunity for a stab at the longest speculative Thread in the history of the Forum?

SES-Astra might be getting flak from the Beeb after seeing reports that reception is covering all of France, eastern Spain
etc etc which I'm sure they thought wouldn't be possible.....I'm sure they won't like that but you can't really "tweak" the beam to stop it that much.
