NEW CONTACT IN GHANA SAYS NEW WEST AFRICA SERVICE on ASTRA 2F STARTS 27TH NOVEMBER ....
am asking him for more details (he said the service starts on that day l channels might become activebefore)

let see how the signal it same day 27 nobember
the part also uk and pe change also 27 november ?

@deep blue sky

4.5M not sure of label as its not at my location, only watched the signal for about 20 minutes so cant comment in detail over long time period. Astra 1N Uk beam is not receivable no lock at anytime of day, Will be difficult to monitor 4.5m as only daytime access until summer.

Sorry I cant be of more help.

Will try and post more details were possible as things change.

I see. Thank you nevertheless for all the useful information. In case of any new information you get, i look forward in seeing them.

What joy! Decided to input 11023 one last time on Humax HDR and suddenly received a signal, which I promptly saved. Am watching 8901 and 8911 at 60% signal strength. Clear sky after a cloudy weekend, but picture now beginning to falter... Well, at least I have something to go on, and hope for the future!

What town is it? And what is the dish size?

Hi Huevos et al. I'm in Lugo, Galicia, and the dish is 150cm Prime Focus with an Inverto Black Ultra twin LNB perched on the front. Anyway, flushed with success after a frustrating weekend, I´m off to bed. ¡Hasta mañana!

Not wishing to drag things off topic , I was a radio ham for a while and while i never worked in microwave bands i find it amazing to think that frequencies can be re used with impunity especially at the small angles between UK and Ghana ( 60 ish degrees ) . I wonder if this forecast reuse is the reason for the higher than expected power of this spot , if regular expected power settings were used there may be problems off center ( but still within the required coverage areas ). I think this wont be over untill the fat lady sings so to speak , that is to say there is signal reports from the fringe on a frequency that is known to be reused.

A Black Ultra is not a PF LNB. Something wrong there.

Actually it is 6.7 degrees. The lengths of the sides of the triangle prove this.

Satellite position: 28.2E
Beam centre location: 52.5, -3.9
Distance from the beam centre to satellite: 39253km
Dish location: 5.5, -0.25
Distance from the dish location to satellite: 36711km
Direct distance (dish to beam centre): 5091km
Great circle distance to beam centre: 5237km
Off axis: 6.7

Beam centred on west Wales to as per the official footprint.

Ok , i didnt do that math and ill take yours at face value , i had made the assumption of course in my sketch the transmission was at 0 feet , which its not . Its a feat of engineering that im in awe of but i can see that its important to consider the issue of frequency re use before investing in a dish. While im not likely here in Madrid to have the WAB " cut in " its quite plausible to end up in a null zone as a consequence of it , all the more so because of this very tight angle.

There is already an active WAB at 28E, but I can't see the smallest blip on the spectrum using a 1.8m dish.

Yes I understand this , however right now Im in a fringe area of 11023H that you are all testing , with say a 1.4m dish people around me are reporting signal. 400km South West of me , nobody is getting signal on any sized dish so far , 500 KM NW of me there is a faint trace on i believe a 1.8m dish but not reliabled ... im on the " edge " before the roll off ... Now if the WAB fired up on 11023H .. Is it plausible to believe the UK beam property around the fringe changes such that theres enough cancellation ( or interaction between the two beams ) to move the reliable fringe. Essentially interference / cancellation. Its one thing to have an active frequency from that point and another thing to have 2 active beams from the same point ( satellite ) on the same frequency. Not sure if that makes sense but "fringe fringe" reception is already reliant on a fragile field intensity. Its one possible reason for the higher than expected output and field strenght being seen in the UK where you could i believe point an LNB at a wet rag and pick up 11023h.

Id be amazed if this was not tested at some point in the near future , perhaps though to you guys more expereinced this is totally thought out and inconsequential. Perhaps as you say its as simple as you cant pick anything out of the noise from 28e that destined for WA.

today morning new signal 12139v low power 1.5db

Well for me NO change in any signal levels this morning - so "the big move"didnt happen last night did it?

Back to No Signal on 11023 in Lugo, north west Spain, and back to the rain, but at least I've got the parameters correctly stored so I can keep an eye on it during the day. My dish is a second hand 150cm PF. I've never had a/ the correct feedhorn, so get by on LNBFs which more or less pushfit into the central feed horn holder, allowing for no forward backward movement, just skew.

I think not unexpected - at least until they sort out the wobble which of course may be intentional to see the effects of their new super tight beam. Maybe they were a bit too clever with the new "tight" beam and are now finding it hard to optimise to fully satisfy the UK requirement. to the far west in N Ireland for example. Or maybe they have a real problem i stablising it - anyway looks like we may have another week of waiting with perhaps a change at the weekend if they get it all sorted!!!.

You'll be losing an awful lot of signal using an offset LNB on a prime focus dish..

Agreed - in addition you will need a proper matched feedhorn and correct mount (to get the focus at the correct position) for a PF lnb - The invacom c120 ones are considered perhaps the best for the fringes. They dont take too much setting up but are very sensative and you will get the best from your PF dish.

Reception update, Cantabria, Spain (LAT: 40.4 N, LON: 3.7 W).

11023 H reception OK at the moment:
· Dish 100 cm
· Fonestar RDS 580 HD
· Motor: Engel AC7215

Channels 8901 & 8911 clear and no pixelations with SIGNAL: 82 and QUALITY: 63

Cheers.
