I'm getting a tad bored waiting!

I wonder how many fringe folk there are who aren't acutely aware of the impending change?

Some will be happy, but I can already hear howls of protest and outrage (nay, Disgust!) from former Residents of Tunbridge Wells.

11023 is lower for me too. From 14.5 dB in clear blue sky to 11 dB now in the drizzle. 'Normal" BBC1 HD is only about 2 dB lower.

Hi

My observations:

Here (Swedish south coast) all 1N signals notably lower (almost 1d:cool: since after the weekend. Strong until Sunday.

11023H the same or slightly stronger. (Perhaps because the adjacent 1N transponders are weaker.)

11798H notably lower SQ, but has been doing than on and off for many months now. No idea why. (Maybe slightly worse this time, though.)

Regards,
Bengt

G8VKV (/p ?) Your are pretty much along the beam axis so thats a bit surprising , how does it compare signal wise to earlier reception levels ?

Up and down like a yo-yo over the past few days.

One factor to bear in mind is that it's likely my dish isn't too well aligned - it was done with a view to being "OK" and wasn't tweaked to its best.

supermagagnosc in Grasse (about 60km east of me) has been reporting better results with a 90cm dish - but I haven't seen any reports fro him in the past couple of days.

It'll all come out in the wash no doubt.

The whole process of getting the satellite launched and into position was later than first anticipated so i guess that everything has moved forward because of this and based on the other delays i would anticipate the full channel moves to take place this coming weekend (IMHO) !

Fringe, it may be interesting to know how your 11023H signal levels compare with the 2 adjacent transponders (10994H and 11082H) on 1N. Maybe for you 1N are not coming as strong as over here and this is letting you see 11023H.
Thanks!

I get 10994H 22000 DVB QPSK 5/6 at 80% strength and 100% quality. For 11082H I get nothing.

I don't think they are changing 2A, I know 2B is going to 2F.

But I could be wrong.

Yes i know but how would you explain the 3dB lower signal simultanously at different locations ? It cannot be the weather. And should right now this transponder has lost its power ? Nobody can be 100% for sure but i tend to believe that it's more likely it has been switched to 2F PE Beam than still using the old 2A South transponder which might have become/run weaker.

11023H is receivable again (just, borderline 50% quality) here, after adjusting LNB skew. This gives me better quality on the 2A channels and brings in 2F, but gives me trouble with the horizontal transponders on 1N later in the day.

I think we will know when 500 Sat installers in Spain are suddenly murdered because the cheap little dishes they sold to unsuspecting ex pats a year ago don't work any more

10994H coming in at Strength 85% 100% Quality, but was unstable on Humax PVR after I'd adjusted LNB skew to strengthen 2A (and bring in 2F). Picture kept breaking up and claiming "no signal" before hopping back to 85%/100%. 10803H BBC1 Yorkshire was fine, same strength and quality readings.

11023H has definitely got stronger since the weekend. It doesn't work but a frozen picture comes up every now and again or even one with a slight bit of movement.

Tenerife south, Laminas 2.7 or 2.9. I have heard it called different.

Hi everyone,
Just a wild guess based on everything reported here over the last week:
I think there is a big embarassing problem with 2F...
And the transponder 11.023 H, SR 23.000 will not be a common reception report.

Is just a wild guess, i´m no major expert.

Or is just me trying to be very positive :)

No big problems its just delayed as was the launch the footprint is tighter focused on the UK than previously on the old sats and i think we will see more FTA channels moves in the next 4 or 5 days......

@roiserra

Could you provide more detail?

Informed comment from SES claims the delay is DTH related (whatever that may mean, in practice) and that the Bird itself is on station and operational.

DTH means - Direct-to-Home !

ASTRA 2F was built by Astrium in Toulouse using a Eurostar E3000 platform and carries Ku- and Ka-band payloads for the delivery of high-performance Direct-to-Home (DTH) and next generation broadband services
