Astra 2F at 28E (at last!)

DTH just refers to the process by which a TV company can broadcast a service directly into somone's home.

In theory, any DTH problems should mean an uplink problem with the satellite.

Only posted it because not everyone that reads this forum does and its always best to explain :-)

It's a pretty meaningless comment on its own - Astra is the world's biggest DTH firm, i.e. it takes TV/radio broadcasts and distributes them directly into peoples' homes via satellite.

Have the 2B channels moved over because i am sure that my signal on Eurosport 2 HD has doubled at least ?

12304 H 29500 3/4

Not according to kingof........

..................... and where does KofS get its info from ............................ ? B)

Maybe i am getting confused then but i am pretty sure that i could not receive it with a stable signal before (do not look at it very often so i could be wrong) ?

Anyone else know the normal signal for this channel on the Costa Blanca ?

I get 10994H 22000 DVB QPSK 5/6 at 80% strength and 100% quality. For 11082H I get nothing.

Sorry. It was a typo. It should be 11052H instead.
On my receiver 10994H and 11052H are showing at 100% signal (17.6 dB).
I'm sure these are leaking to 11023H. A bigger dish will never help as it will just amplify the full spectrum. Perhaps just with a better lnb... But I'm already using an Invacom and I'm not sure to be able to find a better one.
The hope is when 1N transponders move to 2F we get less inter channel leakage...

maybe here?..

Exactly so - or at least from dedicated Members who submit reports to them (and to Flysay, Lyngsat etc.)

Great resources, but still prone to GIGO (or RIRO, as one pleases!)

From what I can see I would say they are normal signals, and there have been no changes in 2b norths yet.
2B norths have always had a decent signal - remember 2b north is also where the irish c4s are - used then the 2d c4s were not available.

2a norths are the tricky ones in the CB.

I'd have thought a DTH problem would have been related to transmission from the satellite, rather than to it. Wild speculation, but a DTH Platform problem could be insufficient coverage in Shetland (which is on the edge of the 60cm footprint on the official map, whereas the Faroes (not part of the UK) are tucked inside the 45cm zone.) </speculation>

Luxembourg – November 21, 2012 – SES S.A. (Euronext Paris and Luxembourg Stock Exchange: SESG) announced today that the ASTRA 2F satellite has successfully completed its in-orbit testing and is now fully operational and in commercial service at the orbital neighborhood of 28.2/28.5 degrees East. The 52nd SES satellite was successfully launched board an Ariane 5 rocket from Kourou, French Guiana, on September 28, 2012.
ASTRA 2F was built by Astrium in Toulouse using a Eurostar E3000

That's pretty much what I meant - as in the point where the signal goes from being uplinked to received by households.

How do SES monitor signal strengths in the outer areas of the edge without getting user feedback or having a dish stationed there?

i agree.this delay must have a reason, could be what you said,or something else

That´s a problem.
The footprint could be much more tighter and instable than it should be.
That´s what i call a DTH problem.
I don´t believe that they completly ignore the expats - it´s not economical plausible either, even with the Free$at platform because is has indirect revenues itself.
But once more..is just a guess
I think others TP's must be much stronger

The "DTH platform issue" could also just mean " Sky's helpdesk understaffed to cope with the complaint from abroad" :-DOH2

I think this is getting closer to the real issue - From the reception reports we see on this and other sites I think they might have been just a bit too clever with the beam shaping and have made it a little too tight to cover the whole UK reliably. Now its up there the is only a little they can do about it and the shifting of the edges of the beam may be them trying to adjust it so all the UK areas gets a proper level of signal but with such a small long thin footprint it is possbily not actualy fully possible! Short of sending someone up there with a hammer to change the shape of the output dish, parts of the UK in the north east and north west and Northern Ireland may be in for a less than perfect beam from from this spot - at least until 2G gets up there!
All more pure speculation of course! - but what else can one do at the moment? :-beer
