based on Gonzobaby stating it had moved. I added 6 hours on.
It has been travelling for 6 days 5 hours or 149 hrs
It has moved from 43.5 to 32.13 or 11.37 deg.
This equates to 0.0763087 deg/hr
estimated time to arrival 52.36
This is based on it grinding to an emergency stop so add another 6 hrs - 58 in total
Or 9 pm euro time.

That's PE beam. That is to take in Madeira and the Canary Islands. Whether it is really down to beam shaping or artistic license (for political reasons) is open to debate.

... here where I live in Hanover, Germany, there is no telling if I will still get my UK channels, come next week...I'm currently looking at new hardware to buy, I will at least need a new more sensitive LNB and perhaps a more sensitive receiver. Suggestions are welcome.
I spent some time yesterday looking at projected footprints and comparing them to the footprints of 1N and 2D... if I manage to lock my dish and the new LNB smack bang 100% on 2F, there is a chance I might still get Freesat with my 80cm dish in good weather... I am not sure my landlord will let me put a bigger dish than my current one in the courtyard...

Yes but 2E is basically the same design as 2F so it should be very similar.
The big question at the moment is how is 2F going to compare to 1N?
And I guess this time next week this thread should be a bit longer and we might have some idea.

Spare a thought for those of us in Finland, while we've been used to missing the UK "spot" since 2D left we could soon start missing some of the "pan" European channels soon when 2A/2B go...

True, but there are at least slight differences on the European beam which could mean big differences in fringe areas of eastern Europe the Nordic areas.

I wonder the same and I am in Frankfurt. The German constitution does, fortunately, allow foreigners to receive broadcasts in their own language so if a 120cm dish is required you could have an argument to put to the landlord. Landlord can argue that cable etc has english language programming. Counter argument is tell them you are learning Gaellic or Welsh and these are not on cable or German oriented sats. Fortunately I have my own big back garden and I would be able to install a large dish. I believe if 1KR spot beam was anything to go by- then mid Germany maybe the limit of reception eastwards. Remember 1KR spotbeam ( now apparently not in use) could not be received in Berlin at one point on a 120cm dish........... If probs are experienced with the new spotbeam even with getting a sat dish 2m plus I will run a dual system- Sky hd box for the Sky stuff and Internet for the PSBs...... and if UK Sky goes spotbeam I will look into Sky Italia purely because they show a lot of rugby which Sky Germany does not....

All this begs the question - what will the role of 2E and 2G be when they arrive? and wIll they change sats again from 2F to one of the new ones for the UK based broadcasts? or simply use 2E and 2G for new things? It seems that with another 2 bigs sats up there the slot will have so much spare capacity - who is going to be using it all?

well "unfortunately", I am German, born and bred... so that doesn't apply to me. I just watch UK TV to keep up my English...
oh and of course because British TV it is about 1000% better than anything on German TV...
even "Eddie Stobart" on Channel 5 is intellectually more stimulating than Pro7 or RTL... but what I would really miss sorely would be BBC Four. I just love their documentaries.Anyway, my 80cm dish right now is tucked between two juniper bushes in the backyard, and it just about fits between them so it isn't an eyesore... to put a 90 or 100cm dish in that spot, I might have to hack away parts of the junipers... my landlord probably won't be impressed...

Yes, I am curious as well, I am located here in Nuremberg North Bavaria, and until now a 1m Gibertini offered good reception. I ve even never had any probs with the god old 2D.

Two of the three satellites can back each other up in case of emergencies. So if SES happened to suffer an in orbit failure of one of them the other two can take over the European traffic.
Then there is also the new areas that will be covered - west Africa coverage is being extended, theres Ka for France & Germany & a new payload for the Middle East.
Plus of course there is the controversial frequency grab SES are currently trying to pull off which will give them another dozen or so frequencies to play with.
