Astra 2F: Iberia & Balearics Discussion

@Joddle,

I know you have have said you have the signal level changing all day. Mine is 100% stable. Have either Woborny or Pipino noticed anything like that?

well i did a continuos observation thru 24hours ,the signal do drop in the evenings but nothing to worry about if you have a good quality 120cm up dish ,, but i wouldnt say is rock solid 100% ...i think this region if everything stay as it is once the migration goes thru we can forget about BBC/ITV subject for a good 12 years or so

Joddle I thought you meant there. The signal east and west is being measured on dishes that are too small to give any real reading. To do measurements of any value you need a dish that is big enough to hold lock through the whole test otherwise things will also seem worse than they really are.

Between morning and evening I get 1-2% change in SNR on the Vu+ display (high in the morning and lower in the evening) . Still possible on the Fibo, and I adjusted the skew for Astra and picked up about 5% more SNR. 54% now. Almost as good as the Famaval LH110.

Bit difficult to do any comparisons from previous days on the 80cm dish at the moment due to the rain and cloud here!
1n HLs are breaking up a lot - VLs are just about there, and 2F is really thinking about it but breaking up a lot.
But for the last few days not noticed any significal drop - no breaking up, nice and stable at all times of the day.
Which basically shows that the 80cm dish works, ok just on its limit as long as it is not heavy cloud cover...
90cm dish (or 1m if you want!), was only put up yesterday, and is fine in these conditions, but not really had a chance to view it over a constant period of similar conditions yet.

can you get this signal in iberia ?

E28A SUPERBEAM 12.523V NO SATELLITE SIGNAL 1M DISH TENERIFE
is it now on 2F PANEUROPA BEAM ??

ASTRA 2F WEST AFRICA BEAM 12522V MULTITV GHANA starting on the 27th

70% Strength 60% Quality on my 1.9M
Showing 14 TV and 17 radio

@dsn - and which make of dish ? There's a big difference between an Andrews and a Fortec Star 2.4m

I'm south west of Malaga, near Estepona. Using a 1.25m Gibertini, there's nothing to lock to.
The graph shows 11.024H in comparison to the peak to the left of centre which is 10.996 H (using Televes H45).

That's a bit of a strange one. According to the footprint map you should be fine with a 1m dish.

All those transponders on EB1, above 12.5 GHz, are pretty rubbish, even from here.

Looking bad for the Costa del Sol

Estepona - no Astra 2F sig on 2m prime focus IRTE (old but reasonably healthy) using Invacom QTF-31 0.3db Quad lnb.

The graph is centred on 11024H, showing existing Astra 1N transponders to its left, and the Eutelsat 28A to the right.

Must agree there. Stuffed an attenuator inline and the Capital & Heart tp is one of the weakest here in the Midlands.

Jose thats stronger than ever for you ( your quality readings were lower before I think ) if im not mistaken , there seems to be some reports from South Portugal now also , one guy with a 2.0 meter prime focal and on another forum a guy with a 1.2 says he was a weak lock from Southern portugal.. Either they have increased the power or changed the skew of the satellite. PErhaps the Western fringe here in Madrid is not as delicate as was first assumed or thought.

Here's a footprint forecast I made for Spain, based on reports so far. I know some of you are getting 11023H with smaller dishes, but probably with very little weather margin, and a lot of the transponders not yet migrated have much lower output than this one had.

Huevos , you got it correct for me . Bottom of the black line in Murcia smack on the coast . Not a sausage on 1m , plenty of 11023 signal on 1.8. When did you do this map ?
