Have a look at slide #25 & 26 here @ www.ses.com/11572422/120522_CDO_Investor_Day_FINAL

from 22nd May 2012.

The interesting thing is slide #26 is stamped 'corrected slide' - so what date was it corrected....? But taken at face value it infers that 2F was always scheduled to be a replacement for 2B African beam.

Tin foil hats to standby.
the AFRICA beam for 2G is different then i first sawit at that stage it was same as 2E beam . so they have changed the parameters of 2G
but on the other hand if you think 2E cant handle ´d´band or that its broken please write to me ........................

best result so far, thanks to cold outside temperature (-2.5 ° C) and temporal based, the easternmost peak of the satellite (measured between 2.15 - 2.30 a.m. UTC).
There were locked 4 UK-TPs (except 11023H in 8PSK).

The first image shows with 3dB at the S2-3600 10964H (highest TP)

The second picture shows all 4 locked TPs with the S2-3600

and here are 3 photos from the HD-8000S (possible picture and sound, with short interruptions, the 11053H without image + sound)

My Satellite Setup
85cm dish for 19.2E and 28.2E (28.2E being centred)
My Location
South-Western Germany
Well, I was waiting for some channels to be added on the satellite.. main reason: I plan to modify my new dish once again to receive UK TV.. I recently moved and I decided to wait until Astra 2F reports are in.
Today I only rotated the existing dish and I replaced the LNB with an Inverto Black Ultra.

Result:
--> Great receiption.. signal levels on all transponders of Astra 2F are exceeding 80% quality level, all 1N transponders on 90 or above..

My set-up:
-Fuba 85cm dish
-Inverto Black Ultra Quattro LNB
-Inverto Unicable Set-up (receiver both tested in legacy and unicable mode)
-Location: 49.836781°N, 8.219461°E (precise enough? ;) - type in "49.836781,8.219461" in Google Maps) in Germany

So yeah.. multi-feed setup.. here I come!
I should add though: due to the dish being shared I only had the chance to check the signals for like 1 hour.. and the weather .. well, some clouds but mostly blue.. so I do not know how weather safe the signal is gonna be but things look good enough.

Yeah, it seems so.. West of Frankfurt everything is great.. and yes, my town is tiny - 2000 people .. but I am indeed living at the Southern end which is great.. looking South all I see is fields.. I guess that's good because the dish is standing on the ground in the garden ^^ making it easy to rotate ^^

I can basically harden my report.. I have now modified the dish and turned it into a multi-feed (Astra 2F being nearly centred.. my multifeed thing does not allow centering it totally so it's having a minor offset).. result over 3 days of testing (modification done Saturday morning).. the satellite already had to go through: Heavy rain with strong winds (yesterday, 45 km/h according to my weather meter - we're a windy area).. and snowing on Saturday evening.. receiption is absolutely solid in my receiption it just does not want to die - which is a good thing I personally think!

Do you attribute this to the new Inverto Black Ultra?

My Satellite Setup
- 100cm Offset dish (noname)
- Inverto UniCable Quad LNB
- Humax Foxsat HDR 500GB Freesat
My Location

Hi there,

am new to the forum and just wanted to add my report from about 40km north of Munich...

Lat: 48.458810
Long: 11.453609

My setup:
- 100cm Offset dish (noname)
- Inverto UniCable Quad LNB
- Humax Foxsat HDR 500GB Freesat

After a small adjustment to the skew on the LNB I get good reception on all C5 channels, C4HD and 4seven during the day. The receiver shows signal strength around 50-60%. Threshold is around 45%. Weather does not seem to affect it much...

The signal drops off dramatically at around 6.30-7pm when there's no reception possible at all. It then comes back during the night and is fine again all day.

I'm thinking a bigger and better quality dish, maybe Gibertini 125, will solve that reception loss.

The Black Ultra certainly made a change.. I had another LNB before.. and the Black Ultra visibly raised the receiption bars on Astra 1. I first replaced the LNB and then rotated the dish.. as I do not assume a major weather change.. my quality levels increased by about 10% - the old LNB was old, dirty and a very cheap one.

Luxembourg, 18 December 2012 - SES (NYSE Euronext Paris and Luxembourg Stock Exchange: SESG) announced today that it is the first satellite operator to offer a satellite broadband service with download speeds of up to 20 Mbit/s for consumers in France. The new service uses Ka-band capacity on SES' ASTRA 2F satellite and is available with immediate effect via France Telecom-Orange's satellite broadband affiliate NordNet.

The broadband package called Internet Satellite JET features download speeds of up to 20 Mbit/s, VoIP telephony and High-Definition TV from 29.90 euros per month. NordNet uses new generation end-user terminals provided by Gilat Satellite Technologies.

Patrick Biewer, Managing Director of SES Broadband Services, said: "SES is again pioneering satellite broadband services in Europe, being the first operator to offer equal features to terrestrial services and at a highly competitive price. We are convinced that the new Ka-band offer presents a great solution for users in remote locations and will significantly drive product sales in France."

"We are delighted that we can now offer high-speed internet connections with download speeds of up to 20 Mbit/s to households anywhere in France," said Francis Piet, CEO of NordNet. "Thanks to the new Ka-band capacity on SES' ASTRA 2F satellite and SES Broadband Services' years of experience in the satellite broadband market, we are certain that our new service package, Internet Satellite JET, will be a success in France."

Find more information about the product on NordNet's website (in French): _www.nordnet.com/offres/internet-satellite/notre-offre.php?origine=PART-ZBAWG6U

I've looked at a few of these providers before, my interest being that although I have ADSL I'm 4.5km from the exchange and so the practical download speed is a measly 1Mbps, which is insufficient for modern applications. I have two main issues with a satellite connection: the first (and more important) being that your total consumption is limited unless you're prepared to pay a small fortune each month and this would defeat the object of the exercise in having higher download speeds.... My second issue is that I don't like the idea of my data being sprayed all over Europe - I don't care how well it's encrypted, I just don't like it. Am still tempted though :) (A third problem for me would be getting spousal planning permission for another dish.... :) )

It's crossed my mind too, although in this case it would be more like France and surrounding areas rather that than the whole of Europe.

Yes, of course - that slipped my attention :) However, 60+m as opposed to 400+m, still a lot of people ....

Indeed, maybe consider Ka-Sat instead? ;)

Having looked at the offer I don't think I'll be taking it up.....

Though the 'up to 20mb' is tempting (especially as I am over 6km from an exchange and only have a 1mb download too),there is a 20 Gig cap per month...which would probably be ok. Living on my own (and with five dishes) 'approval' isn't an issue either. But at the moment I don't pay much more than the offer price per month for my Orange broadband. I also get free unlimited international calls, which comes in handy when you have a lady friend in South Africa you ring two or three times a week for over 90 minutes!!! I think they will struggle to get customers unless you want to go down the whole Skype telephone route and watch your download limits...
