Not had any calls yet from my clients but it is possible they haven't tried the HD channels. If I hear anything will advise.Having a number of calls, emails, and online stuff from people in and around Torrevieja area, using "1.4m" dishes, who have lost ITV1HDs and BBC HD channels.... all in the last few days...
Bit difficult for me to confirm if this is due to the sat changes or bad installations, as it is not my area.... but too much of a coincidence.
But where I am (70kms south of Valencia), not much to tell (see post #2)
Depending on how damaged the 1.4 is, could it not be picking up tiny bits of stray signals from nearby satellites?Just ran some quick tests using the 1.8m dish and the damaged 1.4.
On the 1.8 ITV HD and CH5 show stronger than BBC1 South by almost 1dB, but on the 1.4 cannot see ITV HD at all and CH5 is on the edge, reading 0.4dB lower than BBC1 South. Not sure why this is, either way CH5 will break up later and probably disappear altogether early evening. Will play some more,
Not sure of damage, nothing visible and no sign of twist, but reads lower than it should. One day I´ll figure out why!Depending on how damaged the 1.4 is, could it not be picking up tiny bits of stray signals from nearby satellites?
No.Can we re-name this the Milamber thread?
Is that a definitive NO or a possible NO?
Not surprised, Fam´s have good gain and are light weight and cost is reasonable, Tecs and Televes ( and others ) cost more and sometimes have better gain, not always, and weigh a lot more. For most folk cost / ratio wins.It looks like the BBC New HD frequency, followed by the ITV2HD frequency, is the new tricky one to get in these parts.
Very fine tuning on a 100x110cm dish to get it up to 8.8db.
So perhapr the new minimum of this channel is the 110x120 dish...which was a lot easier to tune it into.
Also had the chance to look at a tecatel 125x135cm dish and a Famaval 1.4m "best dish for the costa blanca" dish that were next to each other...both with a single Ultra Black, and aligned as best as I could, and yet the Tecatel dish was performing the best out of the two of them.
