Big level variations on those, evenings black screen (below 60% quality) to daytime very good (85% quality). Seems variations on those are worse than anything else on 2F uk (& 2G uk).

Astra 2G eurobeam is coming through fine in Vaasa Finland wit Triax 85 cm dish. I cannot tell how strong thes signals are as my Samsung tv does not show the signal strength correctly.

I know this is Astra 2G thread but Astra 2E Eurobeam is much weaker than before for me in Vaasa Finland. Before I could pick up the signal without breakups most of the time with my 85 cm dish but now I cannot even get the signal to lock. Viva frequency was always the strongest but I also watched Pick, Channel4, 4music, a version of Watch (11817V) that opens with 2 of my white ftv cards (Diablo cam).

My dish could be out of focus and really according to the footprint it should be impossible to get those 2E channels with my 85 cm dish here. I have Smart titanium quad lnb.

I have never recieved any signal from Astra 2F.

Astra 2G must be quite strong here as there is no breakups although it is raining heavily.

Thank you Nalleman. This means that there might be hope for me. Will give it a try when the weather improves.

Tonight even 11023H bbc hd's are ok.

In this location 2G is overall a great improvement from 2F, may it last.

I wanted to check how strong the astra 2g europe beam is here in Vaasa, Finland so I re-connected my old Canaldigital combo box (cdc7000st) to my 85 cm antenna.

I only tested 11265H27500 and it gives me strenght 66% and quality 76%. Anything over 25% is a solid picture so Astra 2g Europé beam is really strong here and I am just a little bit outside the official footprint.

Yesterday evening I lost 4seven (earlier I have lost ITV HD). Had to try to adjust my antenna this morning. Now I have both 4seven and ITV HD with stable reception 9,7 dB. The value on BBC News HD however went down from 9,3 to 8,3 dB.
What I did was move my antenna sligthly to the west. All channels on 2E are weaker now but there is still a margin. The horisontals are (as usual) the weakest. BBC London (10773 H) is at the same level as ITV HD 9,7 dB but used to be around 11 dB. BBC HD (10847 V) is at 11,3 dB. Maybe it's necessary to compromise between the three (2E/F/G). After my last adjustment F and G has gained signal and E has lost some. Will see tonight when the signals usually are weaker how it looks.
Maybe some more skew adjustement will be necessary.

The big question is: which LNB is really the best with a 1,8 m Channel master right now? Inverto Black ultra single, Black ultra quad, Opticum? What do you think?

Buy a bunch of LNBs from HM-sat and do some testing. Some says Inverto is the best ones, some says Invacom or Opticum or ??? LNB !? Then each supplier has many different types...Complicated. You have to test which one is best for your dish. If you travel to Gothenburg I can give you one of my Invacom (QTH-031) for some testing. Which BU do have now ? If you consider quad output, choose quatro instead and a switch. My first BU quad had some isolation issues between the ports so if I changed channel one on STB it gave "glitches" to the other receivers. Now I don't have these issues...But on the other hand if you got signal levels around 8-11 dB, well you already have pretty good marginals...

Well as it is now I have reception of all channels 24/7 even in bad weather with heavy rain so I'll keep things as they are for now. As you say with levels around 8-12 dB there is not that much to worry about. With antenna fully optimized for reception of 2E I had 13,5 dB on 10729 and 10758 (the two strongest TP:s) and now it is around 12 dB at the best.
As long as I can get all channels I used to have before 2G there isn't much to complain about! :)
I now use BU single! Have tested Invacom QTH-031 earlier but it was not as good as BU.

Just to make you feel better and put it in perspective, I'd be very happy just to get 8-12 dB on some 2E/2F Europe beams, let alone any UK spots on my 1.8m in Helsinki!! ;)

I'm very happy with the Quattro at the moment.
I tried to compare IBUs last year, and found virtually no difference between quad/single, and later between quad/quattro with similar results.
For the purist I would probably use the single, as this has the longest neck and the best consistant S/N.
