Why? As I saw it they use QPSK with DVBS-2 and FEC 8/9 which needs about 6.2dB SNR. Any dish capable of receiving HD with DVBS-2 8PSK with FEC 2/3 will be suitable as that needs 6.6dB SNR.

Oh ok, didn't consider the modulation. 2G Europe footprint less concentrated on UK than 2E/F so will be interesting to see how compares in UK fringes.

Added this morning's transponder moves off 28A. Eutelsat 28A is no longer being used for TV broadcasts in the UK.

The Freesat Electronic Programme Guide has moved from Eutelsat 28A early this morning, as part of the final migration of services from the ageing satellite, which has been in orbit since 2001.

Other channels affected by the move include news channels France 24 (English) and Bloomberg. With the migration, all services targeting UK and Ireland satellite viewers have now moved to one of three new satellites located at 28 degrees East above the equator.

Eutelsat 28A is already a few years over its originally expected 12 year lifespan, and has been associated with spells of poor reception, especially in recent months. Now new satellite Astra 2G has been brought into service, services on 28A have been able to be transferred to either Astra 2E, F, G, with the load being balanced between the three satellites.

Still no news from http://www.ses.com/4233325/news as to 2G now in full service ?

If I remember correctly they mentioned Astra 2G was operational when at 21.5E ; they seem to have forgotten it has moved around since then, but SES seem to not mention when they move it to it's testing/real locations, is there a secret they are not telling us ;).

Given the "dodgy" announcements for Astra 2E/2F perhaps they have just decided to not update anything as they got it wrong previously. Hopefully we will see it appear on the COB and Ephemeris data pages in the near future (unless they have just forgotten to update those).

11.082H is live now too.

I checked them about half an hour before you and they where still dead.

Judging from signal levels they are 2G Europe?

are these not all on E28G as it is the only one with european beam ??

11.082H 22.0 5/6 QPSK DVB-S
11.112H 22.0 5/6 QPSK DVB-S
11.553H 22.0 5/6 QPSK DVB-S
11.568V 22.0 5/6 QPSK DVB-S

i get all in TENERIFE with a 1m dish

Officially these are on Astra 2G as they are in SES's allocations, so yes, they are on 28G/2G Europe beam as stated in the first post.

Just to clarify...

I believe Eutelsat own the frequency range 11.2-11.45GHz and they lease extra transponders between 11.575-11.7GHz under an agreement with SES.

Eutelsat 28G and Astra 2G are the same satellite, one name is used by Eutelsat and the other by SES. They also have the same beams but I am led to believe there might be slight differences in power levels on the same beams depending on what level they are transmitting at but essentially it has the same shape.
