astra 5b 31,5e

satellite not in orbit yet
what position iot ?

It was @ 31.61 east @ 5.09 pm current data via the link is misleading.

Yes William-1, why post about Astra 5B in the Eutelsat 3B thread?
Anyway, Eutelsat 3B is still in transfer orbit, copy/pasting n2yo data is not relevant until a few weeks after launch.

Sorry error my end unable to move thread.

Thread starts with 3B ?

Astra 5B is now @ 31.14 east,

Here are some transponder signal quality readings from my 100cm set up with TM6900HD for Astra 1G @ 31.5 east

25th May 2014
----9.30am-----7pm
11758 H 63%----58%
11914 H 60%----63%
11933 V 59%----55%
12011 V 60%----67%
12089 V 63%----68%
12167 V 63%----68%
12245 V 64%----69%
12323 V 65%----70%
12401 V 65%----70%
12479 V 63%----69%

Today @ 12.18pm
11758 H 58%
11934 V 56%
No signals on the other transponders.

Astra 5B may start tonight hopefully the signals will be a bit stronger here from 31.5 east :)

Good idea to note down the signal readings right now while still on Astra 1G!
11758H 17.5 dB, 11934V 15.7 dB, the other 7 Orange Romania transponders between 13.5 and 15.5 dB.
11817V (East beam) gives up to 2 dB reading, so will need quite a few more dB's to lock.

Most interesting I like the idea of the dB readout so I have plugged in my DrHD D15,
My software may be a bit out of date as I do not know where to find an up to date patch currently using 1.16p Jul 10 2013,

Here are my readings from 100cm dish with DrHD D15
11759 H Orange Signal=84%, Green Quality Level=8.2dB
11934 V -----------------=84%-----------------------=7.4dB

Disappointed with the signals from the last 2 receivers so I have just tried this TM5402HD M3 CI Super with 100cm dish,

Astra 1G @ 31.5 east
11759 H 97% Signal ~ 66% Quality
11934 V 97%------- ~ 64% --------
12012 V 97%------- ~ 70% --------
12246 V 97%------- ~ 68%--------
12402 V 97%------- ~ 69%--------

I will keep this set up for the duration of the change over to Astra 5B.

It'll be interesting to see which packages go on the wide beam and which go on the high power beam. I guess some of the 1G east beam will go on the 5B wide beam which would make it an easier catch in the west. I guess Orange will go on the high power beam along with the Italian multistream feeds. The Turkish and Ukrainian stuff could go on either, both beams cover their countries well, depends on the power levels required.
