The European Association for the Protection of Encrypted Works and Services (AEPOC) just announced that a major pirate TV operation that provided almost 1,400 clients in Cyprus and other parts of Europe with illegal subscriptions to BSkyB, Nova, and BFBS has just been shut down. The operation ran from October 2010 to May 2011 and generated an income of €100,000.

Using a peer-to-peer (P2P) mechanism, which results in the legitimate, albeit abused, care plus decoder set-up across the internet, the pirate TV viewers were actually sharing a single card with a legitimate subscriber. The heads of the operation were able to do this by establishing a network of five servers that distributed the access codes from the legitimate cards to their clients' P2P systems. It is currently the largest 'card-sharing' pirate operations AEPOC has uncovered. The agency said that every pirate operation leaves a trace, and in this case it was the payment receipts issued to clients of the card-sharing network.

“AEPOC and its members are committed to follow each incident and bring down pirates. Trustful collaboration with the police helps to achieve anti-piracy results in an increasingly short time frame.” said Michael Barley, AEPOC's vice president. “Nevertheless,” he continued “the EU legislative framework needs to evolve to build an even bigger deterrent to prevent audio-visual piracy in the first place.”

Though AEPOC is focusing on bringing the heads of the pirate operation to justice, it is also considering carrying out legal action against the 1,400 customers.

I'm able to view the artical about the Athourities shut down BskyB Pirate TV.

'm curious, since it was shut down, do ay of you believe that the satellite recievers
that they made, are still around the worl??? Any of them left over since they got
shut down??? What model is their satellite receiver, and where can people find them
since it was shut down???
Does this receiver model only works in Europe????
You can PM me, also.

Hello,
what is a man in washington going to do with these receivers.
they are probably digital satellite receivers.
most will handle ntsc or pal signals.
if they used an encryption device they will not decrypt other services.
or they where some type of dream box that used a card sharing that they could turn on or off if the subscriber did not pay.

does anyone have any info other than the article?

They will only work for half of the American subscribers.

DirectV doesn't use DVB it uses DSS which isn't compatible with a DVB receiver.

It would work OK with the other provider though :D

Experiment... To see what would work and what would NOT work.
But I would like to know the brand make and model number of the
receiver that the artical was referring to.

Dreambox, I pruchased one from China, and found out it's a clone one,
doesn't work right. : - (((( If anyone care for that one, I'll be happey
to send it out to whoever wants it. : - ))))

OpenBox, I heard is suppose to do better then DMBox.

It will more than likely be a Dreambox DM500s which they are refering too. That seems to be the box of choice for most of the CS payservers. Sometime it will be a DM800HD if the user wants the HD channels also.

The boxes supplied are also usually clone boxes as they are usually half the price of a genuine one.

If you want a decent box to play with go for something like a Vu+ Duo. Most of the DM boxes out there these days are just Clones so i wouldn't take the risk unless like me you don't mind clone boxes.
