Hi
I am new to all this and was wondering if I can pick up badr 26 east from a 80 cm dish in Northern Ireland.

Oh and before I forgt - welcome to the forum!

Which channels are you particularly interested in?

Hi thanks for your reply. Bein sports is what I'm looking for.

maybe a couple of txp,s on BADR4 but thats it.... maybe another member in your neck of the woods can give you a detailed summary. as for bein sports forget it unless you have thousands for a very large dish

european beams of astra4a you should get but nordic beams and ses5 again a very large dish
Ok thanks for the help no doubt I will have loads more questions.

Forgive my stupidity but I thought getting 26 East would be easy as I can get 19.2 and 13 east?

The trouble is, it's not just down to the position on the Clarke Belt but more importantly where the various Beams of the Satellites are pointing: This creates a "Footprint" and the UK/RoI are at the edge of one footprint and completely (to all intents and purposes) out of the rest.

Look at this

^^ The Badr 5 & 6 beams are firing into the Middle East, the Mediterranean & North Africa

Todays beam shaping technology has advanced greatly over the last 5-10 years, and lots of fringe areas are now losing signals from broadcast slots they have traditionally had reception from as new satellites come into service.

Not much we can do about it Im afraid.

Yes I think I'm starting to understand it a bit better now. What satellites can I expect to receive then? I have a motorised dish and I'm currently getting 28.2, 19.2 and 13 east.

Those are the European versions Martin - folk want the Middle East versions for the footy - which is why they are on the difficult beams!

One more question tonight and I'll leave u all alone. I am getting most channels on 28.2 but not getting some with a message appearing " not in service pat " or " tune failed" any ideas as to why?

Well before I posted A/S, I checked livonsat and most games are being shown from 19.2 ?
Yeah they are but Southampton match tonight isn't unfortunately it's on 26 and 4.8 east so I've no hope of seeing it.

Thats normally a sign its moved frequency or ceased transmission - delete the dead ones and rescan :)
