Your signal quality readings are still low, as 23.5E is very strong, I think you might need to tweak your dish, to get 26E. Check your latitude, and longitude, if using Usals. Also check the signal quality readings at both ends of the arc, or at least 39E and 30W.

the funny thing is, I looked up the channels i received (Noord, Ooost..etc) they are on Astra 3B transponder 11914H. But i tuned the receiver to 11919H, how can that be?

Because the Transponders are denominated by their notional centre frequency and each TP is about 20MHz wide.

So the target and/or reported frequency can quite happily diverrge from nominal by a few MHz and it will nevertheless Lock.

A transponder is 20(?) MHz wide so being a few MHz "out" won't matter.

To be clear, they are also on 7W, not instead of 26E!

(Just in case anyone interprets it wrongly)

Hi

I had partial success. Tuning to 12182h 16200 I got 90% strength and 60% quality and I got Yemen channels. However, not all transponders were received, I was only able to receive
12182h 60%
11921h 30%
12524h 50%
12683v 40%
11919h 30%

And these are all. Just want to add that I think the receiver is stupid, since it doesn't have all the transponders for badr4, and when deleted all transponders and manually added them, signal strength never climbed over 30% until a factory reset brought back to 90%. Can't really complain.. It is cheap

I could try to tweak the direction more.. It is so sensitive to the smallest touch. I think it reached 75% quality only once, but couldn't get it back.

Well that's progress!

What LNB are you using?

Have you set the Skew correctly?

Skew was actually my next question.. Fr badr4, I think it should be 19degrees, but how do you set that up?

You rotate the LNB, in the holder, slightly.
Can you upload some pictures?
I still think your dish need re-aligning, as some of the signal quality levels, you've posted, just don't seem high enough, given the size of your dish and the satellites you've checked.
Try altering the elevation, of the dish, slightly, to see if you can improve the signal quality.

I know that skew is about rotating the lnb clockwise or counter clockwise. But this is the question, 19 degrees clockwise or counterclockwise?

I also think I have got the wrong lnb.. It says: 0.3 db, "specially designed for Astra"

It is raining outside, I will get pictures later

A 0.3dB Universal LNB is fine. The "specially designed" carp is just meaningless advertising puff.

Skew is clockwise rotation when looking from LNB towards Dish. ie The F connector will go from 6 o'clock towards 7 or 8 o'clock.

Believe me, you are doing ok - BADR is a tricky blighter: I think mickha is right about Elevation. Sounds like you've got Azimuth just about right now.

I had some time this weekend and was able to improve received signal. Now signal quality is between 50% to 70% for all transponders, and was able to receive 151 Arabic channels.

I noticed that properly setting the skew angle significantly improved reception by 10%-20% direction of the dish itself was a trial and error business, but finally got

Thanks all for the help.. Appreciate it

Hmm Interesting I never had to skew the lnb to get 26e, it came in fine but using a 1.2m dish though.

I’ve been trying to get 26e for some time had everything checked for alinement etc still no 26e at the weekend tilted the dish a bit forward no luck then tilted the dish a bit further forward and bingo lost count at ninety-five watchable Arabic channels.

hi all,

what's the difference between badr 4, 5 and 6? even though the dish is aligned towards 26.0, I.can't receive any of badr 5 or 6 transponders.. is it because thy don't cover the UK?

Yup - only the older Badr 4 puts any appreciable signal into the UK
