Canal+ on Badr 5. And its power is very strong, i get in Tanzania with 6M dish. According to the footprint, these french channels cover sahara desert only, but it can still be catched in Tanzania where 4,000 KM far away already. I tried the other satellite 4,000 KM away, but not success.

4000 km from what? Those channels are on the Ku Pan Arab beam. The footprint includes parts of Kenya so it's not surprizing you are receiving it on a 6 metre dish.

Huevos ,according to -http://www.flysat.com/canalsat26.php , the channels of "Le bouquet de Canal +" , are on the Badr-5 Ku-Band Maghreb (Steerable) BSS and not Pan Arab beam .

@dsmdish: Impressive that you're getting the Maghreb Beam down there !! Is it possible to post some photos of your 6m dish ? And since i'm getting OT, maybe you could post elsewhere what other out of footprint signals you're receiving. Maybe anything from 13E ?

I think we need to know the transponder frequency. Canal+ Bouquet Promo is on 11785 which is Pan Arab. 12265 and 12303 are the channels and they are on Maghreb.

11785 fail
12265, 12303 Success and they are strong
Normally it is impossible to get signal from Maghreb. Maybe they are on Pan arab, otherwise the Maghreb beam is very strong.
13E not tried but I think we can get in Nairobi with 6M dish.

Crazy. Must be a sidelobe covering your location. In case you will try 13E or any other out of footprint beam please let us know about the results.

Good evening all,

In Kenya you can access the Badr 5 Maghreb foot print using a 1.5 offset dish plus inverto ultra black quad lnb.
Red dot in the map indicates my location in Kenya.

With a 2.4 offset dish i access all other Pan-Arab Badr 5 frequencies plus Badr 6 BSS foot prints.

With the aid of a new firmware patch for Strong 4910 HD, some channels on the package are open.

11785V is on Pan Arab beam , you are receiving only Badr-5 Ku-Band Maghreb beam.
what about the 12322V transponder , it's also on the Maghreb beam . -http://www.flysat.com/badr26.php
I think that the footprint of Maghreb beam is pointing more South East that the official footprint shows , that's why there is easy reception in Kenya of Maghreb beam with 1,65 dish and Tanzania with 6M dish .
dsmdish , I saw that you have also two ''smallers" of 4Μ and 3M dishes , you have try any reception with them at same Maghreb freq . ?

It seems the Badr 5 Maghreb foot print covers a wider foot print area in Africa than what is portrayed on the Arabsat wen site.
The red balloon indicates my area in Kenya as shown in the first image attached.
Frequencies 12265 H, 12303 H and 12322 V are achievable on a 1.5 offset dish with signal strength ranging at about 56%

Surprisingly the Badr 5 Pan Arab beam has part of its foot print entering a small section of Kenya but the beam signal strength is much weaker than the Maghreb foot print.
The only frequency possible on the Pan-Arab bean possible on a 1.5 offset dish is frequency 11785 V at signal strength of 53%.
For frequency 10730 H i use a 2.4 offset dish with signal stregth coming in at 52% max.
