hi i have a 1m motorised setup using usals with a vu duo,i have set up my dish on 0.8w where as my latitude is 3.40,i am recieving pretty good signals 28.2 99%snr on bbc and around 80% on 30W on canal de historia and pretty good signals on the other 10 sats i have.,but i cannot get anything on badr 26E i have tried adjusting but then my signal drops on other sats, should i start again and set up on 5w which is nearer my due south? i have noticed by flexing the dish up on 30w that my signal does increase slightly. If i make adjustments do i always do this on my reference satellite and a weak or strong channel? and because my signal goes up slightly do i just alter left or right or alter up or down as the way i have read about fine tuning it reads to me as turn the dish left or right not up or down to achieve maximum signal if it improves by flexing up, i have just ordered a half decent sat meter to use as it is no good talking back and fore to hers in doors as she just keeps on confusing me. hope somebody can give some tips.
thanks
steve

Yes set up on 5W as its closer to your due south.

You will be limited as to what you can get on 26E - basically its Badr 4 only in the UK due to the silly sized dishes required for Badr 5 & 6.

First try fine tuning on just badr4, then you will know what is possible, and if you get it ok, what you are aiming for when you fine tune the whole arc.

When fine tuning the whole arc, you have to go to the extremes of the arc you can receive and see what adjustment needs to be made to improve reception. For example if the elevation needs lifting on both sides, no left or right adjustment is needed.

Somewhere else on the forum is a thread on Vu+ tuner sensitivity and/or batch quality

Hi im after the mbc channels and Dubai sports if i can pick them up i have managed to pick up mbc persia on 7w but nothing else for mbc,is that what you was going to suggest setting up this sat? i found quite a few services on 7w apart from all the mbc channels and i have read that 7w is harder to pull in than 23e.

I can pull in a decent signal on my 85cm Penta dish from 26e on MBC channels but it does break up in heavy rain. 7w is more difficult and I only manage MBC channels in the evenings. A 1.2m dish pulls these in 24/7 though. Mind you I am much further south than you are so this report is probably not helpful.

What LNB are you using? If it isn't an Inverto Black Ultra twin you want to think about trying one.

I fitted one of these last week it certainly helped with the signal i was using a smart titanium but the inverto seems a lot better.
captain jack thanks for the info youre probably not as far south from me as you think youre only just across the water.

Sorry Steve. For some unknown reason, I assumed you were in Scotland! But yes, you're only just slightly north. With a 1m dish, you should be getting a decent signal from MBC in Wales, although I don't know how sharp the signal drop off is.

On east coast of Ireland I get 164 channels. The strongest TP for me is 12182 H 16200 Yemen TV just over 11db on the F15 receiver. MBC TP is just over 10db.

Comparing MBC channels here between 7°W and 26°E, there's an extra 0.9dB from 26°E.

put up ladders to fine tune today found one side of the motor latitude on 52 the other on 55 so i adjusted(does anybody know what marks to use on an ***** dark motor theres a little nick on each side and i gather that is what you line up?)any way after doing that i put my socket wrench in my hoodie it slipped out and went straight through a tile i replaced this,i then plugged in the new meter that arrived yesterday and it doesnt work,i got in touch with the company i had it off and fair play they were quick to reply i have had to send it back, packs it up takes over the PO £7.55 down comes back home and i havent packed the charger to go with it.
i wont go into what my soliciter told me this morning.so hopefully when the meter comes back i will give it another go.i am getting a slight signal on badr now so more fine tuning to come.
