My Condensate pipe is heavily insulated as far as the soakaway ..... Also, the regs have changed in recent years to ensure there's an air break between the trap outlet and the run to the drain/soakaway, which helps.

And, if all else fails, simply disconnect the trap outlet and shove on a pipe leading to a bucket (To be emptied now and then).

Ways and means, Mostyn. Ways and means. The root of problems like this is the absence of any practical skills in modern personfolk.

A plumber on the show simply cut the condensate pipe within the house, and directed the output into a bucket (to be emptied periodically).
 
Not a prog I ever watch, but glad he took my advice :-rofl2

Back in 2009/10, that's what I did, except the pipe didn't need cutting, it wasn't glued on, so I just pulled it off the boiler and sat a bucket underneath, before such a solution was popular...:-rofl2

Now though, if the same happened, I'd just strap a spare washing machine drain hose onto the pipe from the current boiler and direct it to the kitchen sink, as they're only about 4ft apart... :lol:
 
FWIW, pouring " a kettle of boiling water" over the condensate outlet isn't viable here because that is just below the edge of the roof! - but then I doubt we'll ever face the problem because 90% of the pipe is inside the "very warm" office/bedroom and I heavily insulated the very short external bit several years ago :)
 
:-hijack On the subject of plastic plumbing pipe, I want to make a couple more aerials.

Can anyone point in the right direction I need 15mm by 3 meters if I can buy it.

It also negates to some point the energy / money savings these new designs were peddled into the mainstream on. Plenty of people were blugeoned into getting rid of perfectly good heating systems a few years back by the lies of obsolescence.
 
Herself had to turn back and find an alternative route to work this moaning owing to a river having burst its banks.

I took that same route at 9pm yesterday and all was normal, so there must have been a fork of a lot of overnight rain.

Just a little flurry here ....... so far

I hope it doesn't deteriorate as I'm due to have my ears hoovered later, after being obliged to cancel last week due to being snowed in.
 
Nowt up here, just set to be party sunny, melting off the snow deposited last week by "the beast"...

Not a Mc Flurry I hope...

Rain and wind here, just as well I'm not going out. SWMBO is in hospital for 'dietary tests', in relation to her diabetes and pancreas functioning. Would you believe the hospital has no WiFi??
