A good possibility Dorian will visit the UK before the end of next week.

More like I may need a submarine IF we go out, as planned, to one of our pension-provider's "Open Day" at Ally Pally (for last two years it has been at Earls Court during the Chrismas Ideal Gnome Show!) 'cause it's tippping down out there .

How are you "floating" along as I gather that most of the UK is in the same state?

We're on a walking holiday in Cumbria. Had three good days so far and fully expected today to be a wash-out, yet it is fairly dry thus far. Nevertheless, I have a canoe in my pocket.

There was a single lightning strike about five miles away that woke me up in the early hours.

The garden is loving Humberto at the moment, all installation work is firmly on hold

Yes my bespoke upcycled greenhouse, made from bits of an old aluminium greenhouse and re-engineered to fit on the end of my garage replacing the wooden one I built from scratch 32 years ago is on hold at a very crucial moment until the rain abates

No satellite stuff for the moment (aside from a 43cm minidish that was on the house already), Samsung SyncMaster T27B550 Smart TV & Monitor, and a few computers...

Feeling rather glad I repaired, re-roofed, de-mouldified and re-organised the yard shed last week, the weather this week and next will certainly put the new felt to the test...

Good work, looks like the shed needed it!

BTW: You DO have dishes (and other sat stuff??) - maybe one could be stuck on a pole on the side of the shed?:D

For my part, I'm glad I "deloused" the front block paving with the powerwasher (got filthy and soaking wet several times - and it wasn't raining much!) last week to get rid of (almost) all the weeds that were growing up through the gaps between the blocks. Can't do anymore until we come back from holiday when I need to relay some of the blocks where they have sagged, resand the whole damned area and then get the paving vibrator in to "shake" everything down again - and I hope I get some half-decent weather to do that before Winter sets in.

PS: we never did get out to the pensions show today as SWMBO has been feeling pretty unwell with a really sore throat and sleeping very poorly - not that I really minded because it rained for a lot of the morning (although that seems to have cleared ATM - but it will be back again tonight!).

The shed's been needing it for the past two years, I've just not had the brain energy to do it until last week, and the lined walls were just a huge error on my part, having walls made up of what can only be described as cheap fence panels made it as watertight as a politician's secrets... :-rofl2

And as for my dishes, well there's 4x there, the 80cm I salvaged, showered and gave a bed for the night about 13 years back, the Z2 dish that flopped a few times at the previous house, the PortyII suitcase dish from Lidl, and my BSB minidish that I adapted to take a standard 40mm LNB, all stored, so nothing set up, mostly as I rarely watch television these days as it is, and my interest in satellite TV was analogue stuff, digital is just too much of a faff for me, that and putting anything up at ground level round here would be nabbed by metal thieves, so keeping them stashed away for safe-keeping...

I do have some receivers in the house though, somewhere, like my Nokia 9800S, Silvercrest SL-65, a de-HDD'd Sky+HD box, and my Pace MSS300, but nowt set up at all, excluding the minidish that was already on the house, and even that isn't connected cos the landlord buried the cables somewhere I can't get to... :confused

There was a wall of water that came down a couple of hours ago, flash flooding everywhere on the way back from Hersham.

Luckily that didn't seem to make it here (W.London) - but "you can never know" in the very near future"?

.... my Pace MSS300...
You should invest in HackRF and transmit some analogue TV. I will do a write up at some point for using HackTV.

It can do PAL, SECAM (rudimentary), NTSC, 405 line, 30 line Baird, 819 line and even Apollo system used during their missions.

It does all the major encryption systems as well; Videocrypt 1 and 2, Syster, Discret and even simulation of Videocrypt S. D/D2MAC with Eurocrypt should be out soon too.

Unfortunately, a HackRF is 2/3rds my current monthly income, so investing in that is a no-go for me... :-ohmy

You can try fl2k as well. They are 10 quid off Amazon though it doesn't yet support audio in HackTV, unless you run in MAC mode.

I could, but, making my own transmissions versus sitting a mildly adapted BSB minidish on the middle of the living room floor to pick up analogue Cuatro from 30W was really entertaining for me back in the day...
