Flysat & KoS both have BBC 1 & 2 on Astra 3B 23.5E 12402V 30000 3/4 DVB-S2 8PSK

Sadly for expats encrypted in Verimatrix for NomadTV

Looks like NomadTV are a Luxembourg based redistributor for Hotel suites

Most definitely wont be available for home use!

Ahem - Most definitely wont be available for home use! - from my previous post

According to the Nomad website they will be carrying a few Yank channels as well. Some folks are going to be most frustrated if ABC NBC CBS & Fox turn up on 3B and they cant watch them!

Just saw that over at KoS and was shocked to see those new channels. But looking at the site you linked, AS, it looks as if the American channels will be there as well.

Please, please, please, TAKE MY MONEY!

Unless you run a bona fide hotel (& no doubt pay a BIG monthly fee) there will be no chance whatsoever of getting any of these channels.

Card and special receiver required:

How does it work

Within the Nomad TV footprint, a 90 cm dish with 2 heads ( 23.5° & 19.2°) is to be installed on the roof, with relevant cabling running down through the shaft to the equipment cabinet in the hotel.

And the more interesting bit:

Hoteliers require a conventional hospitality satellite receiver, enabled by a smart card to be installed in the equipment cabinet, which connects to the hotel in-house cabling system. An internet return connection allows remote maintenance.

..sounds like a cereal ;) ca_identifier Verimatrix: hxxp://www.dvbservices.com/identifiers/ca_system_id?page=7

A look at the multiplex shows that this is only the beginning. 83% is still unused. But who wants to watch services with only 1,4Mbps video rate, though it's H.264 ? :-toilet

It would be interesting to see if these channels show all programming from BBC 1&2 right across Europe. If this is legit and legal then these channels cannot broadcast all BBC programs Europe wide and should only be able to show programs that the BBC own the European right for.
Maybe there are different rights for hotels etc I don't know.

Presumably is the full service - they wouldnt have many customers left if they went to a "sorry cant show this - back in an hour" card just before the start of the peak evening schedules!

Even though we can't watch the channels... it confirms my suspicions from last week :D
Verimatrix sounds like a cool name. Has anyone got any info with regards to the crypt. Do we need special authorised decoders?
I'm well excited now!

Very interesting! Definitely an untapped market.

With regard to the rights issues, seeing as they're providing it on a customer by customer basis; they'll no doubt be paying the BBC (and thus their rights holders) a fee for each customer receiving BBC channels which negates the issue. This is how it works for Dutch and Belgian cable operators who carry the BBC channels.

Perhaps the BBC channels will only be decoded for the hotels in areas where the BBC can be received easily already, like Belgium and Holland?
