Heard all the satellite companies here in the canaries are getting ready to turn the dishes around to 27.5 w then just getting the relevant boxes to pick up the channels. Just buy 5 new boxes to show bbc1 through to channel 5 to hundreds of apartments on complexes. Do you think the feeds will still last long if so many are doing it just here alone and how would the beeb know who is getting the signal ?

The Feeds will no doubt remain, but whether they stay "gettable" has to be debatable: See Post #19 et seq.

Well my Skybox F3 experiments are at an end: I can open BISS Channels in general, but not the BBC Feeds. There is no doubt that the data I'm using is good as I've correlated it from several sources.

Ergo, it's the bonkers SR that's the problem.

Most people wanting these Feeds will want it to work without any undue faffing about, so the F3 is not the box for this purpose.

1.4m PF Fagor fixed dish Invacom quad C120 LNB. Amstrad SD Sky Rx 1 feed with Sky Subs. 2nd feed via DISEqC switch to my DB500S, 3rd to a Ross HD Rx.The switch also connects my 1m dish with a Motsat3 motor to DB. Satlook Micro G2 meter

Should any receiver be able to lock on to the Ch5 transponder (11665V 9765 5/6) although not open the channels? This morning Ive been messing with my DB500 and stepping the motor back 2.5 deg East from Hispasat @30W but I'm not getting much/any signal on that transponder and certainly no lock. However, it has been raining pretty hard today here in Torrevieja. I'm using CCCam on my DB. I have a 1m dish on the motor.

Thanks

The symbol rate is probably too high

DreamBox DM 500 HD technische Daten

DBS-Tuner mit DVB-S2:
Eingangsfrequenzbereich 950 .... 2150 MHz
Demodulation DVB-S (QPSK); DVB-S2 (8PSK,QPSK)
Symbolrate DVB-S: 2 ... 45 Mbaud/s, SCPC/ MCPC
DVB-S2: 10 - 31 Mbaud/s (8PSK) , 10 - 30 Mbaud/s (QPSK)

oops, you were referring to the CH5 carrier at 11663V. Apparently it has left 27,5W. It was scrambled anyway ;)

Thanks for that info. My DB 500 is an old one, just SD. but having looked at the specs in the book, it has the same Symbol Rate range as above, so I understand why it wont see the transponder. I will have to buy something like a Technomate if 2F reception becomes a problem here. Not long to wait and see.

Very important lo look at the specs carefully. Many receivers have a poorer symbol rate range for DVB-S2 than for DVB-S.

Published specs for some receivers can be deceptive. My DR HD F15 quotes an upper SR range for DVB-S2 as 30Msp/s, but it easily resolves the 44.1 Msp/s of the BBC Mux on 27.5W. Furthermore, entering and opening the BISS key for that TP on the receiver is as easy as pie.

Thanks for the receiver advice. I hope that I don't need it if 2F is OK here and from reading on here maybe the present BBCs etc will change encryption if too many people start getting to know about them.

Have the Ch5s gone from 27.5W. They still seem to be listed on Lyngsat etc??

Thanks

Yes, at least I can't see any activity at 11665V (11663 on my transponder list). The transponder sites like @Lyngsat are not always up-to-date and accurate. I'm sure when a contributor reads this, he will send the changes under his name to @Lyngsat et. al ;)

Sounds like yet another box that wont cope with the high Symbol Rate (qv My own experiment with an F3).

The problem might be that all channels are marked as "FreeCAMode = 0 - not encrypted"! The BISS ca_descriptor 0x2600 is also missing. Without a fixed assignment of these services to EMU and constant CW, the receiver won't do anything cos he's thinking that everything is FTA ;)

Maybe if you set the channels to encrypted...

Nice one, Blind Faith: This tallies with something Hixxy mentioned about the lack of an Encryption Flag.

Now how does one set the F3 to think they are Encrypted ..................... ??

Just downloaded and unzipped the Skybox F3 Program Edit Tool.

Looks like it should be possible to use that to alter Scrambled from No to Yes.

Will try later.

Once it goes mainstream we can more or less guarantee the service access will be screwed down.

Couldn't have said it better A/S.
It would be good to see the beeb possibly changing the codes periodically to interrupt anyone purposely cashing in, selling receivers and distribution systems abroad. I don't mind genuine people, but cannot stand the greedy gits raking in the money.
