BBC HD channels freeze

I have 99% signal strength and 97% quality. Wondering why the BBC HD channels freeze on 28.2 east.
Should i change the LNB on the dish. The one i have at the mo is a Inverto Black Quad on a Triax dish.
 
Perhaps your box does not have the required processing power.
 
My old Spiderbox was prone to overheating, do you have sufficient airflow?
Try putting blocks, under each corner, to raise it up, allowing air to flow underneath.
Do any other HD channels freeze?
Try doing a rescan, or do a factory reset and set it up again.

I had the same issue with a Spiderbox standard channels were ok but BBC Hd was not (freeze and lockup) .... did a factory re set tried different software versions ... never solved it .. Replaced the receiver with another (different brand ) .... no issues with the replacement box.

This could also cause a problem: too much signal strength given by a (high gain) IBU LNB, to a too sensitive receiver.

Do you have an extra, long, cable, to add to the existing cable?
Or maybe a diseqc switch or splitter or so, to cause some signal (strength) loss (attenuation), and see if that has effect?
Or an attenuator?

It's working through a Diseqc switch already. I did think to much signal before.

I agree, the level of the signal is probably too high. Look what I receive on my 80cm in the south of Holland.
Add 6 dB for the 110cm
Same 70dB gain PLL Inverto, the LNB is not even in the middle of my offset disc.
And the spotbeam is weaker here than in England.

If that would be the case, another receiver would have the same problem.
The switch has only a couple of dB loss.
 
Does it only affect BBC HD channels? If the LNB was overloading the tuner I'd expect more channels to have problems.

IBUs overload my Humax Foxsat - when used with an attenuator signal quality increases and picture breakup stops.
 
I have the same problem with my Megasat HD7.
Every satellite DXer should have one of these:

If you have a handy length of satellite cable, say about 25m, and suitable plugs and adaptors then you could start with that. If it is an overloading signal problem then even a 50m length would not be too long. Hopefully a no/low cost soution.
 
Would that not reduce the quality though also.

It is suggested as a way of testing if the long cable solves your problem.

Zoom in on the little device at the back of the analyser.

I personally would not recommend a long cable run as a permanent solution.
The losses in low frequencies (where the BBC channels are situated) are small compared to the loss at the end of the spectrum.

btw reducing the IF level does not change quality as already is explained.
But too much attenuation will drown the high frequencies into the noise floor.
