Can anyone help me, are the BBC HD channels on 2D, i am thinking of upgrading my sky box to HD and i was wondering if i could recieve BBC HD. At the moment i cannot receive 2D on my set up.

Yes BBC Hd is on the spot beam, 10.847v :)

Unless you put a bigger dish up you can forget BBC HD.

Try telling the wife that she said 105cm is big enough, any bigger would look silly.

But size really is important .................

If she wants BBC HD, then a change of heart is required!

From what I can see from a quick search you will require something in the range of 2.4m - 3m if you want BBC HD.

So give the missus an ultimatum - silly sized dish or no BBC HD :D

Or go with a Canal Digital subscription that offers BBC HD Scandinavia which is not the same but receivable with tiny dishes. If you want the original and without paying then the answer is the same as above. 3m should be just right according to a report from Salo at _http://huoltovalikko.keskustelupalstat.com/showpost.php?p=54057 that showed on a Nokia 9902S 7.4-8.9dB on 10847V connected to an Aerial 2.4m, Invacom Single(SNF031). I am not sure if this size would suffice for 24h reception all the year.

Thankyou all for your help, just one last question what about prime focus dishes do they reduce the size needed

The short answer is no (There are longer answers .....!)

Prime Focus not really commonly used below 1.2m or so - which is also the crossover region where Offset Dishes cease to be the norm.

So as you need a Dish well over 1.2m anyway (for the Astra 2D route), it would almost certainly have to be a Prime Focus design.

But do tell your wife that Prime Focus Dishes are truly elegant :)
