I live in norway just outside oslo. Trying to get astra 2d for 2 years. have a 1,50 dish with humax freesat hd. Sporadic picture especially during afternoon. Read now that bbc is on intelsat 27.5 west. You need a mpeg 4 dvb s2 8 psk tuner to get it. i would really appriciate some help in choosing the right tuner. The footprint map says that 80 cm is good enough.

You can't view those channels with a domestic receiver. They are BBC feeds for DTT transmitters, probably using a proprietary encryption.

What dish have you got? Is it 150cm horizontally? What LNB are you using? Are you certain the dish is aligned properly?

At least BBC uses some uncommon modulation with DVB-S2 and most probably also encrypted. Can not get lock.

The symbol rate is high too. (39777). You might find it's stretching the capability of most DVB-S2 tuners in domestic receivers.

Yes it's the symbol rate that is the problem. Most domestic receivers can reach an SR of 45000 in DVB mode but only up to 30000 in DVB-S2 mode. Professional receiver needed i think. The encryption used is BISS i believe.

thanks for your help everybody. I have a 1 50 channel master and a digiality 0.2 lnb. It has been aligned by a professional guy with a satlook meter. It is possible to enlarge the dish to 1 80? With aluminium perhaps. Also i was wondering if it might help to convert the dish to a similar dish to the old philips dish. The one with the small saucer dish at the front and the reversed lnb.

hello to all.
ok here is some info.
the bbc 1 and bbc 2 etc is in the clear it has been running since 20 april 09.
yes the symbol rate is high 39.777 and most receivers will not lock in on this at all.
but there may be some new ones on the market that might.
i have tried to receive this with a 1.7 m dish here in naples and no way.
i pickes up spanish at 30 west but not the 27.5 west.
using a spectrm is you can not see the lobes its not use it.
wether it goes encrypt in the future is anyone's guess.
for now its in the clear.
most receivers mpeg 4 will only go to 30.000 mpeg 4 there are new receivers in china that may go to 40.000.
if anyone can pick up tv 5 lobe on the spectrum on 11.665 v then the other will work with the right receiver.
even if it was week i would do the research and find a receiver that would work.
its not there at all.

ralph:)

Maybe a dim question, but I don't know the box's spec's...

Would a QualiTV receiver be suitable (as I know they are quite flexible, and can be used for feeds..)?

ust a thought :)

not at all, it's not even dvb-s2

QualiTV used to be a pretty innovative receiver with his 4:2:2 capability, dvi connection, hd high level pic quality, solid hardware (but poor software support and with many bugs) but it's completely out of date now, at least in Europe
