Hello All.
I have a Fortec Star FS-4200 digital satellite receiver; it does not have a card reader. This little receiver gets for me 24/7 the BBC Streams 0-6 on 12441 23500V. All sports programs on BBC1 and BBC2 seem to be shown on these streams, plus many other things. In the last few months we have had te Grand National, Last Night at The Proms, World (BDO) Darts, Snooker Masters, etc. This is very usdeful as here in Cyprus on our 2.4m dish and Pace 430N receiver we cannot get any 2D channels - the dish is just not big enough.

My question is this, why can't I program in these streams using !Add Channels'? If I try it comes back "No Channels Found".

This seems a bit odd. I can't believe the Fortec is so much more sensitive than the Pace.

Any ideas?
Thanks,
Geoff

Because they are flagged as Data, so your Dodgibox can't see them.

Even of the nonSky Boxes, not all cope: My Foxsat HD sees the two BBCi Multiscreens, but not any of the other i Streams, yet the rest of my stack of Receivers see them perfectly happily.

Nothing to do with Tuner Sensitivity, just cr*p firmware or by design.

Geoffrey,
You can also watch these channels on your Pace.
Press text on BBC Parliament, go to page 300, and choose Sport Multiscreen.

Thanks Denis. I think you'll find the same SPORTS stuff on there, but not all the other (non-sport) stuff, such as the last night of the proms.
Cheers,
Geoff.

Ah, that explains it. Actually the 'add channels' facility on SKY boxes does seem generally poor.
I was lucky then buying the FS-4200, especially as it was on special offer last summer at Maplins UK (£39.99) with free postage to a UK address. My daughter hand carried it out to Cyprus. It did not end there however. Her address is in Surrey, but the plastic I charged it to is on a N.Yorks address. I got a nasty letter from the TV Licencing people pointing out there is no TV licence at that address, and as I had bought TV receiving equipment I should now buy a licence! Keen or what?? I wrote back to them and the mis-understanding (as I politely called it) has been cleared up.

Ah, the TVL Stasi strike again!

I wonder how much it costs each year to persecute the innocent?

Quite so! What I could not understand is why the TVL chased up /checked up on the credit card address, rather than the address the receiver had been delivered to (?), maybe as that address (my daughter's) HAS a TV licence, whereas the card address does not (as the occupant is exempt from needing one). Maplins were, of course, merely abiding by the UK law in notifying TVL of the transaction. Big Brother Et Al - partly why I now reside in Cyprus!! No TV licences here,

the link u gave me is about bbc sports. what about the other 6 channels ?

What other 6 channels??

All the bbci content is carried on Stream 0 to Stream 6, (sports, last night of the proms Glastonbury etc)

I think what the poster is saying is where can he find out what non-sports programming is on the streams. When it's on of course.

yes. whats the program of stream 0 . stream 1 . stream 2 . stream 3 etc ??

As far as I know that info isnt available, so you will just have to check regularly

However many BBC "big events" have some additional programming on.

Dont think so - they are used more for additional coverage of events - for example during the World Cup some of the streams are used for alternative commentary streams.

Events covered are nearly all sports events carried by BBC1 and BBC2, e.g. Grand National, The Derby, Boat Race, Darts, Snooker, Wimbledon. Also stuff like Last Night of The Proms. And many more.
