Hey BarMoo, I am not sure its an issue with a free sat trial, at least it identifies the channel?BarMoo said:History repeats. The BBC have tried these horrid logo things with every digital channel - resulting in some modicum of rejection of the BBC4 logo when some art comes on.
I agree with the we are paying for it with our TV tax, sorry, license, and that it should be logo free. uing this metric though, you could argue that its all completly unfair, as basically the BBC have started a trial that only a tiny percentage of the population can revieve.
I mean, using "Granny Logic", how long before my grandma can watch HDTV? Many years minimum! Yet she and many others are still paying to fund this. The logo on the channel I would say is the very small tip of a very large ethical iceberg!
My $0.02 is that the money that the government will make from selling the old analogue freq's off should be invested NOW in free to air HDTV. (off course we all know that, like the roads, money generated in one area is usually diverted to a higher priority cause, like funding Prescott's love-pads...)
I can see an argument for freeview BBC channels, £30 down the suprtmarket is not a steep buy in price to have to pay extra to watch what your license is already charging you for, but what is th buying price for HDTV? £300 for a Mpeg4 receiver, or £1K+ for the TV as well, its not quite the same and I am not sure the BBC will "sneak" this in!
At least they are pushing forward with the technology anyway.
I wish someone would release a cheap DVB-S2 PCi card though ;)
I am tempted to get a solution to watch the worldcup on HDTV, but I would lean towards a receiver with HDMI for watching on my 32" LCD.. and I am not conviced that anything bought now would be out of date next month/week/tomorrow....
Paul.
