Dear Gurus,

is there anywhere a "listing" of the BBCi channel programs ? ... what are they ? ... does it "matter" than I can only get ASTRA 2A, 2B signals here in S.Europe (and no ASTRA 2D) ? ... will they work without the 2D signals ?

I'm trying to figure out whether it's worth investing in a largish dish to be able to get them from here in Southern Europe ... (and that's assuming I can get a freesat card)


Please help the confused.
 
No theres no listings as such as the channels are not normally active. they are only active during big events (Wimbledon / Chelsea Flower Show / World Cup etc) On a normal fta box they can be tuned in just like any other channel. They wont work with a digibox if you cant get 2D as they are activated off the red button, and cannot be tuned in on the box

Freesat cards have nothing to do with the BBC as all the channels are fta.
 
The BBC channels are on one of the south beams, so you dont need a large dish for them.

If you are going for the large dish, then you may as well get one big enough for the BBC / ITV channels
 
Your comments are appreciated.

- I thought (by reading up at bbc.co.uk about digital) that you "need" either a freesat card OR a SKY card. The digital channels (among them I assumed BBCi) are FTA but also encrypted unless you have a card (freesat=1 off payment).

- from here in S.Europe I would need a huge 3.5m dish to receive ASTRA 2D and that is a bit extreme at the moment (budgetwise and installingwise).

- from 1 to 10 :) just how certain are you that BBCi reception is useless unless you have 2D reception ? ... :)

Freesat = FreesatfromSky. The card ONLY gives you c4, C5, 5US, 5Life, & Sky 3.

The BBCi channels are flagged as data channels and are therefore not available directly to a Digibox. The ONLY way to get them on a Skybox is off the red button from a BBC channel.

So certainty = 10 :D
If you are using a Sky digibox get that big dish or do without BBCi.

PS you seem to be thinking BBCi is an easy way to BBC for you - its off air 90% of the time, and does not carry any general entertainment programming
 
So is there anyway of getting the BBCi channels on to the 'Other Channels menu on the digibox? I've tried some freq from here - http://www.wildsat.com/astra.htm - but no luck, and there was definitely some content on one of them because the Aussie Tennis Open is carried on them.

Thanks, it's just that its a right pain to keep going through the red button, oh well.
