We all like to save a few quid when buying anything and the internet has enabled us to shop around. But there can be a down side.
When buying from abroad problems can arise if the item you bought is faulty. The few quid you saved is wiped out by having to pay the return carriage and insurance really bumps it up. I got a DM 8000 from DVBShop Germany. Its been faulty since day one.I don't expect to pay big money and get cheap service.
DM support have suggested various things and offered to send me a new tuner if I paid the postage, then pay for someone to fit it, which if not approved by Dreambox, wipes out my guarantee. Dream support is good which is more than I can say for DVB Shop. So its sent back to DVBShop Germany, they don't want it, send it to Dream Multimedia they say. No replacement, just repair in due course. No refund but plenty of arrogance from DVB Shop. Fourtunately for me the credit card company take a different view so its going to be a long battle before I get my money or a box back. So stick to the UK suppliers, you can at least telephone them and sort something out. Maybe I should have got a cloned box as buying a GM8000 new box which arrives as faulty makes me doubt the quality of Dream Multimedia.
