TBH, I was very suspicious of W10 when it arrived and was, over time "forced" on use, but having had W10 (both Home & Pro) on various m/cs for several years, I've/we've never lost any files or profiles (although I do know of at least one who has - an "IT Pro" or at least he seems to have been before he retired!) -, or had temporary profiles created due to Windows updates - part of the reason being, I think, at least in terms of stability and data security, has been that none of my/our data files are stored in the default Windows locations but on separate partitions on the disk In that context, none of the m/cs have ever had Windows 10 reinstalled since they were originally "upgraded" Thus, IMHO, there's a bit of "pot luck" involved, but, with careful management, W10 can be, and usually is, very stable and safe - and so, as a relative "computer illiterate", I'm fairly happy with it. As for @Lazarus' "problem" with his Linx tablet, I suspect that was probably the result of trying to force a low-end tablet with very limited "disk" space to handle what is, TBH, a very resource/disk space-heavy OS - thus "horses for courses". OTOH, SWMBO's 12 yr (and counting!) Dell 1525 laptop with 4GB memory still handles W10 fairly well, albeit that it's pretty slow and really needs that SSD I bought for it several months ago!
