Best Closed Source Receiver.

William,

Are you saying that a TM-5402 M3 receiver will show the signal quality for a transponder even if the signal quality is below the level for a lock?

The F15 does do this, does the TM-5402 M3 also do this?

Rgds

Yes as I have explained in post #18 they are in fact the same receiver with slightly different software so you cannot use the M3 software to upgrade the F15.

I know that M1 doesn't show quality before lock (I had one) and I don't believe M3 shows it either - would be glad to be corrected.

Software later than 1.25p on F15 does NOT show the correct quality level either. I tried everything from 1.27 to the latest 2.xx. It just shows a random quality reading of between 2.0 and 2.9dB :(

The TM5402HD M3 was only tagged with this name as it was a good sales pitch to let people believe that this was a new version of the TM5402 when it was not.

The TM5402HD M3 is a different receiver build to the M1 & M2 also they use different hardware & software the M3 should have been called the TM_F3/5 HD Mk-2

Yes the M3 does show quality before lock as it fooled me a few times when I could not view a channel showing signal bars as I had never come across this before.

Yes as the TM5402HD M3 & DrHD F15/16 have the same build software,

DrHD F15 / F16 & Technomate TM5402HD M3 share the same type of software,

DrHD D15 / TM5402HD M1 / M2 & Blade 7000 also share the same software,

The Blade 5000 & ClarkeTech 3100 & 4100 are of similar build to the DrHD F15,

The Clarke Tech 4100 can show signal quality in dB I have read,

I know for a fact that the TM5402HD M1/M2, DrHD D15 & Blade 7000s are from the same receiver hardware as they all have the 45,000 symbol rate error when a low symbol rate is in use it gets confused & 45,000 is assigned to the transponder

That is one reason why I have gradually got rid of these receivers for feed hunting.

Some slight errors in the models:

Dr HD F15, 5402HD M1, Blade 7000s, CT 3100 are all the same (Hubtech)

Dr HD D15, 5402HD M3, Blade 8000, CT4100 are all the same

TM5402HD M2 is the same as the M1,F15 etc... just produced in China and not Korea as are all the newer Closed source

William, would it be possible to show a video of the signal below lock please? I will definitely add this receiver to my arsenal if so.

I am on it back in a few minutes.

The TM5402HD M2 was made in Korea when they were told ceased production in Korea they shipped all the parts to China to assemble & complete the order when they used up all the parts they came out with the F_3/5 / M3 based on an earlier Hubtech model similar to the F15 with all parts sourced in China.

^^^ Currently highest on the list is vu+ duo2 or solo2, due to easy local availability.

to simplify this argument as i see it...

TM 5402 M1/M2(assembled in PRC), DR-HD F15/F16 , BLADE BM7000 95% the same

TM5402 M3, TM F3-5, DR-HD D15, BLADE 8000 95% the same

ive owned 5 out of of them and still own 3.. if you put a M3 and D15 side by side it screams same box with different front, gui ect. all modern stb makers have left korea in favour of PRC apart from the odd one or two. imo all of this is down to personal taste and which box works best for you in your location and dish/lnb/cable ect and which channels your trying to get.

Then to have the picture complete, I wonder:
What could be the Dr.HD, Clarke Tech, etc. equivalents, if any, of the TM 6900 and 6902 that william-1 likes so much?
These boxes are about 5 years old!

maybe the DR-HD grand triple is similar... i know @digi247 has owned one so maybe he can give a better opinion

Welp, as suspected, the TM5402 M3 does NOT display SNR before lock - at least not for me.

Here's the screenshot with the F15 on one of the TPs that I cannot lock but can see signal:

And here's one on the same TP/dish/LNB/cable etc. on TM5402 M3:

Sensitivity wise - it's no better or worse than the Vu+ Uno and perhaps only very slightly better than the F15. The fact that the F15 shows SNR before lock is infinitely more important for me, especially for the fringes. Especially as I generally dislike the use of sat-cards...

I did open a few PV channels, but the few I tried in C band on 40.5W and 55W didn't open... but for £90, it's not a bad purchase.
