Cfphenix,

I got your message yesterday, tried to reply but your mailbox is full, so you could not receive my answer.

I am still waiting for my DB 7020, but I think satshop.ch is a serious website.

Sometimes it takes me up to a week to receive a parcel from France so, imagine what it's like from Switzerland!:) They probably put it in the post today so, I would say it will be with me in a couple of day (wednesday) at the very earliest.

I'll let you updated when I receive my DB 7020!

Me too ! The only downside I could see was possibility of being old stock - there is now a Si version [ whatever that means]. Hopefully you have found a great buy and others, like me ,will appreciate your bottle to find a bargain.

@dlemaire: Please let us know when you receive your DB as I'm also keen to order. Still undecided on whether it will be a 7020 or 7025 though :confused. Also, was delivery free or did they charge you 7.43 CHF?

@MrGlum1: Apparently the "i" is not another DB version. It just refers to the fact that you get a free 9 month adult viewing card with it ;)

h**p://***.satstore.co.uk, not the cheapest and I have never used them but I have read many reports of 1st class service. £399 + £12 delivery.

I am having real trouble stopping myself from buying one!

:) First I would like to thank toppervte33h for welcoming me (I forgot to mention it, in my previous posting), it is very much appreciated.

Rav, thanks for sharing your thoughts with us, and I have to say that the link you provided is not reassuring me. I do not think they are the same companies/people as they are in a different country & a very different location, but they have a similar webpage layout :-ohmy. I guess it is possible it is the same webpage layout package. Anyway I am going to share my experience with you, PLEASE READ UNTIL THE END (useful info @ the end).

To cut a LONG story short, the satshop.ch guys told me that:

- They are not prepared to ship outside Switzerland because the current price does not include shipping outside their borders (an extra 32.43CHF (=£14.27) on top of the 7.43CHF).

- They also told me that I would have to pay for VAT which is 17.5% (I think), so according to them it does not worth it for me to get it from them.

- If I have a problem I would have to send it back and the shipping cost kicks in again.

I said I did not mind all that trouble (still really worth it anyway), and (to cut a long story short) I managed to convince them to send it to me after making "arrangements" (that's French persistance for you ;-) over 48 hours.

He altered the webpage whilst on the phone for me to make the extra £14.27 payment.

So what are your possibilities:

- Try to buy and make a phone call.

- If you decide to buy from them I would recommend you to link up to make a kind of group purchase to have more weight in your requests. I had to convince them, so it is highly recommended. It could be a double edge sword however, if they see a high demand outside their borders, I am sure they would re-arrange their website to offer such a service if they can really cash in.

Tip: For some reasons they changed their price and it is higher if you are not a member of their website. I recommend to become a member check the price again and purchase if the price is as in my previous post. Anyway you have to become a member if you want to buy from them.

- Alternative 1: If you have a friend in Switzerland get it sent to him. If you go on holidays there (e.g. skiing) get it sent to your hotel. Otherwise set a PO box (going a bit far there ;-)

- THE ALTERNATIVE 2 is:

h**p://***.maxking.com/shopcart/help.php?section=contactus&mode=update

(£255 ex VAT, £313 inc. Shipping)

I tried to call both numbers (on the top right hand side corner of this webpage) and I managed to get through someone (a couple of weeks ago). The person told me he was abroad (eventhough I called in England/ probably made a call forward), and I did not get a good feel for it (but I might be wrong) as he was not sure if he is open on Saturdays etc…, so I decided not to go ahead with it! I guess if you live in London, you can check out their place (684 Chigwell Road, Woodford Green, Essex. IG8 8EW), and share your experience with us. I know their adress because they offer you the possibility to get the item from their shop when you go through the process of purchasing (that I did not finish:)).

If you live in the London area this could be the best alternative, just check it out & tell us!

That’s my purchasing experience guys. Not easy to become a 7020 dreamer (Feb 06) around the £300 mark, best of luck and keep us posted on your experiences. I shall drop a line when I finally receive my DB 7020 next week :-ohmy .

By the way, Maxking does not offer the 7025, so cfphoenix it’s your call mate!!!

Complementary information:

The extra VAT of 17.5% is because Switzerland is not part of Europe, just in case you forgot ;-)

Thank you for the information and sharing your experience with us dlemaire.

I may leave work early one afternoon next week and make my way down to the MaxKing shop. They sell the 7020 for £300 if you collect. I feel a bit more comfortable buying from a shop and paying by credit card in case things go wrong.

cfphoenix, I did consider the 7025, but there is a lot more support for the 7020 and I don't really fancy the idea of beta testing the 7025! Also, the 8000 is due out later this year which should be high definition _http://www.rinova.net/images/DM8000-2.jpg

I finally received my DB 7020 with a 250 HDD from satshop.ch.
All in all I paid £362.01.

It took for ever though:
Paid: 02/03/06
Packed: 03/03/06
Sent: 07/03/06
Arrived: 17/03/06

The good thing it that it was possible to trace and track my parcel via post.ch.

satshop.ch also sell DBs without HDDs. I guess you can check it out + as I said in my previous post, the prices are cheaper if you are a member (not too sure why?/ I've not received any adds n stuff so...)

@ Rav: £270 (inc. transport) from elettronik looks very good, and if you can pay via paypal, I guess it is a good option. I just wanted to make sure I was not going to have HDD compatibility issue (although I understand it is more of a problem with the DB7000).

Anyway just out of interest, did you go for the elettronik or did you go to the maxking shop (in London)? If so was it all OK?

@ cfphoenix: I believe you can now be confident to buy from satshop.ch for your DB7025!!!

I've attached a few pictures inc. one of the HDD (Samsung 250GB/5760rpm).

Good luck all!!!

The best REAL deals I've found are:

elektronikwelt.net
7020-S: €420.35 = £288.23
7025-S: €543.90 = £372.81

3nity.de
7020-S: €415 = £284.59
7025-S: €545 = £373.85

All including VAT and delivery to the UK :).

Sorry, I know this post is two weeks old, but I have to say that I don't think it's the same store at all. I've always found satstore.co.uk to be an excellent place to buy stuff, and it's owner Mark Hemming to be very friendly and helpful.

Be fair when you slag someone off. I have no connection with satstore UK but it seems they're getting a very raw deal in your post :(
