Best receivers for Fringe Reception

I have now tried the attenuator idea, - or should I say several ranging from 5db to 25 db - the only difference they made was to reduce the number of channels I tuned into on this particular receiver so I have to assume it is either dying or it is simply not as good as the others for some reason or another. I also use my trusty Foxsat HD on which I get over 300 non freesat channels so in reality am not missing anything at all.
 
Are you fitting the attenuator at the LNB end, the receiver end or a bit in between ?
 
I tried at the receiver end only as putting an attenuator on the LNB is not physically possible without relaying a cable. With my Humax I do need an attenuator as the large dish swamps some channels. Its odd that this particular Manhatten box, although identical to the other two, apparently has reduced sensitivity or possible reduced selectivity - hard to tell which. Anyway I am going to put it down to a slightly duff box - the regular freesat stuff is fine although I did get a bit of breakup on this box on Ch4 the other night when all the others continued working fine.
 
I have a Manhattan Freesat PVR here, all SD channels are fine, but no matter what i try, BBC ITV Five HD channels come in as weak or signal...another one is fine...like most other receivers....its not software (updated that), so must be hardware...just a thought for you Joddle...

The attenuators supplied by various outlets for satellite are straight series fitting, so no matter where it goes you do not need anything more than the coupler to install where there you introduce a break in the cable. LNB end no issue, receiver end no issue.

Scrap the Manhattan, get some sleep.
 
I threw by Manhattan's in the bin several years ago hey worked OK at the time but newer receivers like the Octagon SX88+ give you so much more such as multi-stream & over 3500 SD & HD channels FTA :) all for under £50 :Y
 
This one may someday end up in the bin - but for Freesat its OK for now. Alas our users like the freesat mode so I dont think the Octagon is going to help much even if its a much better receiver - When the box dies I will replace with a more modern Humax Freesat one with PVR.

El tp 11022 es muy potente y se sintoniza muy bien por Madrid (tambien sin problemas la semana pasada con la lluvia que comentas), soporta muy bien la lluvia moderada y fuerte, cosa que no pasa con otros tp's y antenas mas pequeñas.

Por el norte de la comunidad, algunas veces llueve mucho mas fuerte y lo pierdo.
